I see a color in the same tone as your paint but much lighter.

It's so hard to really know without pictures. What style are your cabinets? If they are very contemporary I think a black glass backsplash could look great (I'm actually envisioning a glass mosaic with the long skinny tiles in a variety of colors (black, white, gray, etc.). If your cabinets veer more toward traditional or transitional, I think I'd rather see something lighter that matches the cabinets.

Hi, I think to calm everything down, you will want to match one of the lightest colours out of your granite for the backsplash. I also think that a larger format tile might help offset some of the busy-ness of the floor. I'd go with coordinating colour for the grout, or just slightly darker than the tile...but not a lot darker - you don't need more action in that kitchen. How about something like this which appears to have a bit of surface texture but is still very simple. That one is from Tilebar and I know they have a great sample policy so it is worth hopping onto their site and choosing a few you think might work for you and ordering them in. Yes, a solid colour rug and big enough to cover most of the tile (Ikea is your friend on this) will help until you have budget to redo the floor. Flippers who use the cheapest materials available are just wasting so much time and effort, not to mention money. I've seen so many houses where a flipper has come in and used the cheapest tiles and fixtures and covered everything with a fresh coat of paint. Then they want a 200% return on their investment and cannot understand why it isn't selling. And it isn't long until all the cheap finishes end up in landfill. Sigh.........

So you have a kitchen with very little light and are going with a brighter white and white tile with a light countertop. "The kitchen gets minimal natural light so the brighter the better." Has anyone ever explained how white works. White has very little color and looks white vs gray or black because it is reflecting lots of light. If you paint the inside of your closet white and step inside, turn off the light and close the door it doesn't look light and bright. When you have low light conditions white has nothing to reflect. This is when you should have rich wood tones or mid toned colors that can hold their beautiful with or without lots of light. It snowed here recently, so I just went out front and took two pictures. The snow isn't so pretty where the sun isn't reflecting off the snow. White on white kitchens look beautiful when they are flooded with natural daylight, or you have a lot of lights turned on. They all look beautiful in professional photo shoots, but most of us don't have studio lights in our homes.
