I have forgotten it, but never made it inside before remembering. I was talking to SO on the phone when i was walking across the parking lot of the grocery store and it slipped my mind. When I saw a bunch of people with theirs on, i remembered and went back to the car to get it.

That is why I like the disposable ones. When I get in the car I take one from the stack on the other seat and put it on. I then move the mask part down below my chin. Being small faced it does not put strain on my ears. When I go some place like the doctor's or post office if there is a trash can near the entrance I dispose of it. If I go some place where there are not a lot of people I may take the disposable of and leave it in the car until next time. Only recently have I been going anywhere and that was once a week to pick up fresh veggies. I do have some cloth ones but prefer the disposables.

I have noticed that one of my favorite YT foodie people is wearing two. A cone type underneath and a cloth one over it. He has added a face shield recently. After flipping dirt into my eye the other day I broke down and purchased one.

No, I haven't forgotten one yet. We have several so there is always one out and visible. I'd be out of luck if I got inside someplace and was without one....my purse hasn't gone into a store or farther than my car in months. I travel with my credit card in a pocket and maybe a little cash. Thats a new habit for me and I've wondered more than once what I'd do if asked for ID someplace ;0)

I haven't been putting one on to answer the door or receive a package though. As much as we've been home, often as not one of us has walked out to meet UPS, Fed Ex, even my postal carrier. We're 'meeting' outdoors, not in an enclosed space.

I don't mean to say we're not being cautious. We are. Our small community held at under 20 cases all the way into July. Now all at once, we're at over 100 and have had 3 deaths. I picked up U-bake pizza at Papa Murphys for just the second time since February today (and waited outside past their open door until they called my name order was ready), and went through the drive up at my bank. The first I'd been out all week other than my yard.

I usually get halfway across the parking lot, then go back for it.

What I have a hard time with is 6’ distant in the store. I can do it with service people at the house, or anyone outside, but once I’m in the store all the other things in my head don‘t allow that one guideline to sink in.

I never leave the car without first putting it on. If no-one is around outside,, I pull if down under my nose while walking to the store because I have troubling breathing, but if I see someone coming, I pull it up even though I'm still outside. I feel more comfortable wearing a mask and having others wear them.

I've had my purse stolen from my car and it was out of sight, in the trunk.

There have been two or three times when I got halfway across the parking lot, saw someone with their mask on and remembered to go back for mine. It's not quite a habit yet. I keep one right by the front door of the house so I can put it on if I have to answer the door.

When I see people posting about keeping one by the door I am so glad that I live in an area where storm doors are allowed. I just open the inside door and talk through the glass. I keep both locked so that people can not open the storm door and knock on the inside one. For whatever reason people do not know what a door bell looks like or think they are always broken.

I only wear one where absolutely required. That would be to shop and I do that minimally. All businesses around her are mandated to require masks for entrance. Once inside most people don't wear them correctly, including the employees, so it becomes a game of up and down. I really do wish social distance would be better enforced. To me that is much more useful than a piece of cloth or paper. Since masks have been mandated the social distancing has gone out the window. Guess people trust they are safe as long faces are covered. I shop as late as I can to avoid the public. Sometimes DH goes. He wears a useless paper dust mask but hey it meets the requirement.

Elsewhere I don't wear them. I spend my time outdoors. The two places I spend most of my time don't fret over masks. You have one on you but only use it when closer than six feet to people. Most of us just keep a bandana style "mask" around our necks.

We had a good chuckle trail riding the other day. A lone hiker was wearing a mask. She stopped to scream at us for not covering our faces. Never mind we were 10 feet off the ground and more 20 feet away from her in the woods! SMH

I carry a couple of spares in my purse. Dh forgot his the other day so I added a couple to the vehicle consoles.

It's easy enough to avoid people when I'm out walking. Still see a few people wearing them while they are walking and biking. I think they are nuts because it's humid and hard to breathe.

adellabedella in this area you start seeing masks on people out walking in a normal year because that is when the giant ragweed and sunflowers start blooming. Normally most of the bloom is finished by the second week of September. Lots of allergies for both of those. Then there is the woman that is having cancer treatments that always wears one.

First time today. I was in my chair heading into the pharmacy and just stopped dead and quickly got it out of my purse and put it on. It's required by law here. First time you get a warning, after that it's a pretty stiff fine $250. Not sure what happens if it happens repeatedly.

I have been there, done that, walked in a store without wearing a face mask and I had one in my pocket, got too excited about the clothing store. Lol

I walked across the parking lot to the library and stopped dead. The librarian friend laughed she said when she saw me. I never wear one walking the AT every day and only once have I seen anyone wearing masks walking. I only pass one or two people ,mostly no one. But I always wear one any time I'm inside a building. It's mandated here but there is usually some jerk who wears it below their nose. People check you and you're not allowed to enter without one. I'd never approach one of these idiots who flaunt the rules because mostly they're violent and defensive.

Relax, we didn't wear masks for December, January, February and into March. Of course it's natural to remove the mask as soon as you leave the store, it's not like there's anyone near you after leaving the store.

A few feet from the car is the farthest I've gotten w/o it. Of course people are taking it off as soon as they get outside. Outside there is no SCIENTIFIC reason to wear it. Remember the latest information says 6ft apart--or less than 10 minutes. Meaning passing someone in an aisle at the store does not put you in any REAL danger!! Stopping and chatting for 15 minutes THAT puts you at risk of exposure.

Just yesterday I forgot to put my mask on. I've got several in my house and I keep one in my car at all times. I had to go to the vet's to pick up heartworm meds. The center where the office is located was almost empty, and no one was walking about 'wearing' to remind me, and I got to the door before I realized I was sans mask so went back to the car and masked up. My county has a mandatory mask order.

My issue is that I rarely go out in public any more, no one comes to my house, and I don't 'wear' when I'm out in my yard alone.

I haven't forgotten yet, but I keep a spare cloth mask in my purse at all times just in case.

Maybe in coming years, people will have a recurring nightmare of being in a crowd without a mask. Added to bad dreams of not remembering one's locker combination, or having forgotten about attending a class and today's the big test, etc.

maifluer, I doubt that is the reason. We had a rainy period after Hurricane Hannah. Whatever was in the air wasn't there. Those same people were out wearing their masks. The whole family isn't undergoing chemo.

I dashed into Walgreen's the other day to ask whether they had any rubbing alcohol (they did,) paid for it and suddenly realized I didn't have a mask on! I was so shocked and apologized profusely--the sweet clerk should have said something. Luckily there was no one in that area of the store and it was just in front of the door, but I sure was embarrassed.

Let me make a correction from above: almost everyone wears their masks correctly in the Bay Area--we are used to it now. My kids wear masks on the trail because it is not wide enough to comfortable separate while passing.

Raye, we didn't wear masks in those early months of Jan and Feb as there was little covid to spread at that time, except in NY. The lack of masks (mistaken protocol and very bad leadership and example from the top,) in March and April caused many more to sicken.

Actually Raye, there were several people coming close to those people as they were leaving the store, me included, had to step away from them.

I've only forgotten once. However, I found it interesting yesterday that when I left the store, a maskless lady was headed in I said put your mask on... she went back to her car and got it. I decided she probably forgot. I think some really do.

I envision some entrepreneurial tattooist marketing “mask tats” (mask tattoos) to the unmotivated. You know — those people who would not remember to wear the real deal, or would not wash it or keep it clean, who don’t floss or brush daily, who toss beer cans, rubber gloves, cig butts etc out the window and onto the parking lot.

Nearly everyone I see in public is wearing a mask, and properly -- to protect others and because it is a common courtesy that is expected in my area.
