Do you turn off your monitor?
Comments (25)If you have not cleaned the inside of your tower in the last year, especially if you have animals and a lot of dust, do yourself and your pc a huge favor and open that thing up and get those dust bunnies out of there, that in itself will save you a LOT, your pc will run better, less heat, last longer and not take as much effort to run. That is one of the top killers of computers. And it is a task anyone can do. If you need tutorials there are tons of them on google and youtube with step by step direction and we are here to help also. Just do it!! Mine have clear panels so everything inside is visible I have to keep a neat pc LOL But I love having the ability to see what is happening inside. Plus I like all the pretty lights too. I also cringe when I hear " I just turn off the power strip " My sincere hope is that each individual pc and monitor were actually properly shut down individually Before the strip was just turned off!! Unfortunately I know in some cases that is not so....See Morecomputer or monitor?
Comments (9)did any of the button on the front of your monitor get hit by accident and cause the settings to change possibly? IF there is an auto adjust button on the monitor try pushing it. Are you having any other settings or anything at all that seem changed? When did it happen? had you just done any updates or installed anything? if trying the buttons on the monitor do not help I think the first thing I would try is a system restore to the date before this happened and see if maybe it will restore the proper settings, if it is your monitor going out it won't help but if it is something that scrambled your settings it could fix it. Go to start, all programs, accessories, system tools, system restore, select go to a earlier date, in the calendar it shows select the date for just before this happened and have it go back to that date. it will reboot, it will take longer than normal, then it will tell you it is restoring, and that if you do not find this helped that you can go back to how it was before, they are always reversible. Once it is back booted up check and see how it looks....See MoreWhere is your computer monitor?
Comments (8)Maura, This is my office now and since I do have the lap top I can move it over to the right when I need more desk space or push it back under the shelf and reach out to type. I have even had two laptops on the desk at once repairing one while getting repair directions on the other. The printer is on the left under the fabric and lace cover I just push back when I am using it and my office supplies are in the drawer under the printer. The desk is really small and I took the top off of an old wood kitchen table and set it on top of the small desk to give me more desk top area but not a larger foot print on the floor. This way I was able to tuck in the little one drawer thing with the printer. The other little side table is an old old hospital bedside meal tray.I use it for many things. I know this is all a bit crowded but this room is multi functional. It is my office, sewing room ,craft storage space, mosaic workroom and my exercise room. The room is 10 foot by 10 foot. Comments (7)for $150 or so, you can purchase an amplifier that will allow you to add another 12 meters or so to the cable length. The only amplifier I saw, limits the output picture to 1600x1200, which is the resolution of my current monitors (bought 4 years ago). My next ones will, likely, be higher and the booster will be of no help :-( No, electrically, DVI-D and HDMI are the same, so the transitions are nothing more than different connectors (understanding that the DVI cables don't have audio as stated earlier). You won't lose fidelity by converting back and forth. And yet the HDMI cables are available in much higher lengths, than DVI's limit of 15 feet... Can I use a 25' or 50' HDMI-cable to connect a DVI-D monitor to a DVI-D video-card (with a pair of adapters), or are such long cables usable only for TV and other, less demanding applications? I think, I'll try that out for myself next week right here, but if anybody already knows, I'd appreciate the info... Thanks! doofus...See Moredeegw
