I have 4 of them, and I find them very useful. I like the way they look, and the way they open means I can leave them open while cooking certain dishes and just take items from the cabinet as I work (pantry items). They're a great functional choice over a work surface. Two downsides--the hinges take up room inside the cabs and leave certain areas that can't be stuffed with stuff, and I have the Ferrari hinges (plus lots of extras that Ikea gave me when I complained). They do need adjustment and possibly replacement. I, too, have been caught holding a cabinet open with my own little head. mindstorm--is it a straight swap for the Blum Aventos? If you read this, can you provide more detailed information?

Blind corner cabinets are a particular interest of mine for several reasons. I have written quite a few blogs about them, and I have a blind corner in the kitchen I desperately want to remodel. Because I'm a cabinetmaker, I can pretty much do whatever I wantÂwithin reason of course. And, in the end, I rather fear that I am not going to do much of anything with that corner. It will be much better than it was, but some parts of it are forever dead because we're not willing to expand the kitchen, and the space limitations we have greatly restrict our choices. I won't reproduce the arguments here, but I will say that I never did find a solution to the blind corners for base cabinets that I thought was any better than simply letting that blind corner go and simply installing drawer banks on the legs of the blind corners. Basically, it's a matter of simple math. You figure out how much space you'll get with various solutions and compare it to the space you would have with a dead corner and two drawer banks. However, I did find a number of solutions that worked well for upper cabinets, and I will incorporate something like that in our kitchen when I make it. The link below will take you to one of the ideas I liked best. I will definitely do some variation of this for the upper cabinets in our kitchen in that corner. There were also a number of other ideas I came across that that utilized the entire blind corner and did a wonderful job. I personally don't have a problem with simply boarding up a blind corner for base cabinets, but there are enough elegantÂand worthwhileÂsolutions for upper cabinets, that it seems a shame to end up with a dead corner where things go to die, which, sadly, is what I currently have in my kitchen! Thanks mabeldingeldine, I'm a skilled amateur....or at least I have bought enough power tools to make me look skilled :>) I live in SE Texas, an area known for pine. My wood actually came from a building project the owner overbought. My wood was tongue and groove hardwood flooring...kumaru. It's advertised online as a great deck wood because it keeps it's color quite well...and is weather resistant. If you read about kumaru, it is said to be oily and not a great candidate for glue joints. I haven't experienced any joint failures using gorilla glue. My thought for panels is close to your suggestion but has a slight detour. I am using a wood panel in the far left cabinet closest to the sink. I think that cabinet is more likely to be a working cabinet and not a showcase. The other cabinet with a wood panel is the one on the far left from the fridge. I think this will give me symetrical glass and throw in enough wood panels to blend with the lowers which are all wood. I have wood panel blanks I can make additional panels later if desired.

The hardware has gone up in 2022, almost 2023. 1K is much too low to be dealing with a skilled cabinet maker for this. The whole ensemble there is easily 15-20K when built and finished by a custom cabinet maker with the right tools and experience. For paint grade. Stained wood would have species upcharges.
