Comments (17)Regarding your wall art. It is important that you select art which sings to you! Fall in love with a piece of art and don't rush it. Our home is filled with art we found on vacations. Create your own story in your home. Just work on getting the scale right. In the living room, a long horizontal piece would work well. Approximately 2 ft less in length than the sofa itself. And can fill the wall 2 ft from ceiling or less. These are just estimates for scale to help you avoid buying art that is too small for your spaces. Finally, resist the urge to fill up all your walls. Be strategic....See MoreNeed help decorating living/ dining room wall
Comments (37)OK, I have only rarely seen a 70" round table so that is good info that yours is 60" So that last drawing has the right size table. Once you get your furniture arrangement set up, then we can determine how to best deploy your art. I'm thinking of a "grouping" on the dining side of that long wall. Perhaps the biggest (crab?) and then stacking some on each side of it, or even adding to the grouping to make up a "gallery" look. Comments (13)How about mirroring the back of your china cabinet and lowering the chandelier to reflect in the mirrors and add more brilliance to your dining room? Consider flipping your living and dining rugs. You need a more classic one with that furniture and chandy. Since you apparently hope to replace the set eventually, you might try "ghost coating" it with gel stain. It doesn't require sanding and all that effort. Some don't think it is ideal for a long term solution, but I've seen it done very well and it will certainly update things. DIY videos on YT will help you decide....See MoreHelp I need to decorate my dining room area
Comments (4)To start i would remove all the open shelving in the kitchen that cannot be reached easily....this just adds a cluttered feel and draws the eye too high... also remove the small shelving units until you are finished furnishing..and can find a spot where they fit and serve a purpose.... for your described lifestyle i would not want the kitchen so open to view...either an island or another L in the peninsula will give you lots of extra storage and seating and an inviting spot for buffets...or party food.... NEXT....Since you have such an open floor plan i would select big beautiful decorative rugs to define all the different areas....to guide you in decor and furniture color choices....but most importantly provide you with a perfect guide for what size furnishings will fit in each area...See MoreDedra Fabre
