Day #4 without a Coke! Yea!
Comments (34)Regarding the herbal teas: I am a big fan of Celestial Seasonings -- Red Zinger, Mixed Berry Zinger. I make "refrigerator iced tea" -- just put a few packets in a plastic jug, add cold water, pop in the fridge and wait a few hours. Delish; no need to add Splenda or whatever. Last time I stocked up on them when they were on sale at the grocery store, the clerk probably thought I was reselling them on the black market or something! My other non-soda beverage of choice is cold water with something I've mentioned on a post here about favorite finds: True Lime, crystallized lime (they're the consistency of granulated sugar). Love that stuff....See MoreHow much soda/coke/pop is too much?
Comments (23)This is an old post but for those still drinking lots of sodas I'll weigh in! I had migraines for over 30 yrs. The medicine often didn't help them as much as I would like so I tried Pepsi, it helped some & before long I drank 2-3 a day. I never liked coffee or tea & never drank sodas until I went to college & then just occasionally(no money) So then I started getting this nagging pain on each side of my back, like I had a small bag of rocks tied around my kidneys, Soon I noticed blood on the tissue from urine. I stopped with the Pepsi after I also went to dentist & had developed several cavities since last visit & all were at base of the teeth by gums. So I tried Lipton decaf, weak. Bring 2 qts water to boil turn off & add 2 tea bags & let sit for quite awhile. Bro. told me he had a serious problem- I asked what & he said blood, I said what does dr. say & he said they can't figure it out, I asked it he was still drinking pop like it was going out of style, he said he was, so he stopped, problem disappeared , 2nd bro had endoscope(what Joan Rivers had & died from) maybe wrong word, tube down throat into his stomach & further) I asked why, blood in urine, I said we should tell each other before all the testing. Again they couldn't give him an answer, I said you still drink a lot of Coke, yes, well stop & never touch it again because 10 yrs after I quit I could smell the Pepsi as someone was pouring some in a glass & I poured about 2 oz in a little cup & in minutes the dragging down feeling was back & blood in urine. So I think that sodas do permanent damage to your insides. I can't have anything carbonated except Sparkling Martinelli's apple juice which it used to say was "naturally carbonated" but now says "carbonated apple juice" so I may not be able to drink it either. Knott's came out with 1 & it caused me problems. I've learned to drink the weak tea, add ice to it & after 3-4 months got to like it. I get gal size of Crystal Geyser water & just wash & refill smaller bottle to take with me. Our tap water looks awful in a clean clear glass held up to sunlight, won't drink unless it's boiled!...See MoreAny coke drinkers ??
Comments (27)I've done the coke with battery acid thing. In my case it wasn't rust, but the crusty battery acid that builds up at the connectors. That stuff isn't all that easy to get off either. I was about 19 and working at a restaurant and my car wouldn't start up after work. One of the cooks came out to take a look and saw the connection to the battery wasn't working because there was too much crusty acid built up on it. He unhooked the cables, ran inside and grabbed a glass of coke (or pepsi) from the soda machine came back out poured it on and it completely dissolved all the acid. Hooked them back up and it started up right away. I love Dr. Pepper but am trying really hard not to drink it very often. I already use sugar in my coffee in the morning so I don't really need more in the afternoon. :/...See MoreEmpty Diet Coke
Comments (29)My four cents - I think if you find a can like that with nothing in you should hang on to it, and if you think that's crap, check out some of the "collectable" things people have sold on Ebay over the years. I also think companies appreciate being told when there's a production glitch - and don't mind compensating the consumer for their efforts to let them know. When I was a kid (way back, lol) my Mom bought a loaf of bread and nearly had a coronary when she realized there were mouse turds in all the pieces! She wrote the company (McGavin's) a letter and sent it and the mousey bread back. A couple of week's later a McGavin's bread truck pulls up to the house - seems the 'mouse turds' were currants, the bread had been put in a wrong bag. The McGavin's people gave Mom one package of every product they made just to make sure she was a happy customer. It was pretty neat, and we kids enjoyed the donuts and other goodies that weren't very commonly bought in our house. Suzan J...See Morekathyg_in_mi
