No, but Alex showed me a CD set I bought with two #7 CDs and no #6, Eragon. It was bought in the Spring to use on our trip so I think it's too late to complain about it now or get the 6th CD. We never used it so never noticed. He just decided to start listening to it this weekend.

That happened to DH awhile ago. He just tossed it.

I've found or heard, anytime that happens, call or write the company and most times, they will send you a replacement or coupons or voucher to get a replacement....I had 1 friend that had coke or pepsi in the frig and it exploded...The company sent a check plus coupons for quite a few cases....Phone call never hurt.....

Ok,I guess I am the odd man out here but does anyone else think complaining about "1" empty can out of 12 deserves reimbursement for 12 or 12 or more free? Now I could see if there was a can that contained something not suppose to be there or one that made someone ill,but for an empty can or even one that "exploded" in the refrigerator in my opinion doesn't warrant getting something free! Go ahead,beat me up but I think that is just plain silly and on the edge of greedy! Throw the empty in the trash and forget it!

I don't know, but if a can exploded in my fridge... it would probably take with it some of the food. Plus, my time to clean the fridge is well worth the $3.50 or so for a free 12 pack.

I would probably call about the empty can just to make sure the processing of the others was ok and safe to drink. I have never heard of a can with nothing at all in it. I once had a tv dinner without any potatoes; I tossed it, worried it was tampered with. I call about stuff sometimes. I don't like not getting what I paid for. If someone's going to have to eat the money for a mistake, it should be the people that made the mistake, not me. My time having to go to back to a store or even having to make a phone call, is worth something. I figure I should be paid at least as much for my time as the people making the mistakes are... A 12 pack of coke is nothing.

DH had a can of pop once that had just a small amount of pop in it. He didn't open it and was going to take it back to the store but never did. I would have, as the consumer doesn't get any FREE pop unless it is some sort of contest. And speaking of free...I complained about my Gevalia coffee maker as the finish was coming off the warming plate. It was a freebie thrown in when you sign up for the coffee...still, it should hold up better than that so they sent me a NEW one! Love those deals! :)

I once ate a Twinkie that had no cream filling in it. I sent a letter to the maker, ITT Foods, and they sent me back a coupon good for a free package of Twinkies. This happened over 40 years ago. I was always told it pays to complain.

It sure isn't worth complaining about- now if you really wanna hear about something to 'B' about, read my venting post at the top of the column. Besides- pop isn't good for you anyway!

The safety and health issue would be my concern. The company needs to be(and would want to be ) informed,for quality control issues etc. It is just good business to send you coupons etc. It is more of a "thank you" for reporting a potential problem than just sending you a "freebie"...JMHO!!

I had an empty Pepsi once. I called to report it in case they needed to adjust something on the production line. I didn't ask for anything, but they mailed me a few free coupons. I don't see anything wrong with that. They thanked me for calling. Alot of times now, if I have a defective product, I'll call the 800# instead of trekking back to the store for a refund. Its much easier.

I've had several empty Dr. Pepper cans, so decided to e-mail the company and let them know. I had thrown several away but thought it would be nice to let them know about a possible problem and they sent me a couple of coupons for a couple of 12 packs. I'm not above taking something for free considering how much money I've paid them in the past.

I guess I am lucky. In all my 37 years, I have never gotten a empty can in a pack of drinks. You guys make it seem really common. I would probably just show it to some friends and just toss it.

My dd once got a pack of individually wrapped Slim Jims..and none had wrappers on them. The company thanked her for alerting them and sent her a big fresh box.Trust me,they want to know if you get defective stuff!! It means they need to check on their quality control...

I once bought a 12 pk of pepsi.In there 3 bottles didnt have lids and were empty.I wrote they called, come to my house hgave me a case of pepsi free.

My daughter once opened a can of rigatoni and there was no rigatoni in it, just sauce.

It has happened to me with canned beverages. If you look closely, you will likely find a very small hole in the can.
It was probably handled rough,ly during shipping or stocking, or it may have been a defective can.
It happens so infrequently that I don't really worry about it.

My DD once found a metal washer in her pot pie. She wrote them a very business-like letter (for a young girl) and received back 5 coupons for any of that company's products. She happily chose their largest veggie lasagna's.

My four cents -
I think if you find a can like that with nothing in you should hang on to it, and if you think that's crap, check out some of the "collectable" things people have sold on Ebay over the years.
I also think companies appreciate being told when there's a production glitch - and don't mind compensating the consumer for their efforts to let them know.
When I was a kid (way back, lol) my Mom bought a loaf of bread and nearly had a coronary when she realized there were mouse turds in all the pieces! She wrote the company (McGavin's) a letter and sent it and the mousey bread back.
A couple of week's later a McGavin's bread truck pulls up to the house - seems the 'mouse turds' were currants, the bread had been put in a wrong bag.
The McGavin's people gave Mom one package of every product they made just to make sure she was a happy customer. It was pretty neat, and we kids enjoyed the donuts and other goodies that weren't very commonly bought in our house.

i did the same with a case of green beans (del monte) it was it that case had twice the salt as normal...they responded, and refunded my money...

I've heard of people getting an empty can before. I see no problem with telling the company about the problem. The original poster didn't even mention getting free soda in return. If you pay your money, you should be able to get what you paid for. It's up to the company to refund you or just give a thank-you. They'd rather know about the problem then lose customers.

I would definitely call to tell them about the problem. My friend worked for Frito Lay as an inspector on the line, looking for problems like this (or burned chips). He got to sample all sorts of chips!
