help with interior paint - is blue neutral?
Comments (27)Dee, I figured that, but these days with most painters using latex, clean-up isn't/shouldn't be an issue, IMHO anyway! I think they have been able to get away with it, so they keep doing it. I am old and cranky enough that I would look at the line item estimate, ask him how much more for several colors, and then tell him to just take all the painting charges off because I was going to bring in someone else to paint since I want more than one color in my house! :) If you brought in another painter and told the builder to take off the painting charges, I wonder what he would say. Although it is a slightly different situation, our painter whom we have had for years paints what ever colors I choose and he doesn't ever charge more if he is doing rooms in different colors-we've had him do it both ways with several rooms in one color and other times with every room he is painting being a different color. As I said, old and cranky and tired of having people take advantage. Of course, I would do it in the nicest possible way-how I had my heart set on certain colors and how we do understand that he is the best builder in the area which is why we chose him, but we just feel we need to hire an outside painter to make the house a home, we just can't imagine having EVERY room the same color, etc., etc. Faron, you want to weigh in here??? Of course, you may discover that you absolutely love one color throughout! In that case, no worries. Sometimes, I am tempted to try that and see how it looks-problem is that I can't decide what that one color would be-ha....See MoreWhat’s a good neutral interior paint color for a Tudor style home....

Comments (10)Is your lighting in ? If not forget choosing wall colors. Get sample cans and narrow your choice to 3 that you like not tons or you will never get this done. All your lighting should be LEDs in 4000K to make the colors stay true at night. I would keep this simple do thewalls in whatever color you choose in a matte finish and use the same color for the trim but in semigloss it will look like a different color just because of the sheen. IMO this si too soon to be choosing wall colorat all I know builders always want to have the paint done before the floors .IMO I would not do white at all since there are so many undertones with whites I would choose a soft gray/ green instead like Healing Aloe BM I find those types of colors much more neutral the beiges, grays or whites it is what I choose when builders are pushing for paint color....See MoreNeutral interior wall paint color for log home
Comments (8)@hallettco The clear finish will not be oil as we don't want the pine logs to turn yellow. I am attaching a few pics primarily because of the wall color, not all have pine walls. Our trim contrast will be along the lines of Minwax Provencial or slightly lighter. To help break up all of the wood in the house, we did decide to have a kitchen island that is painted and we chose SW Evergreen Fog (.https://www.sherwin-williams.com/homeowners/color/find-and-explore-colors/paint-colors-by-family/SW9130-evergreen-fog). This could also be the color for an accent wall in the great room where the stone fireplace and large sets of windows (this wall is south facing), so a lot of light into this room, especially once the leaves fall off of the trees. I am just starting this search, so haven't purchased paint samples, but am wondering about SW White Duck based on this review, https://www.kylieminteriors.ca/paint-colour-review-sherwin-williams-white-duck-sw-7010/. https://www.houzz.com/photos/rush-lake-rustic-crosslake-mn-rustic-living-room-minneapolis-phvw-vp~103498591?share=houzz-email...See MoreArchitectural Notice
