Your rug looks small for the space and a more colorful rug would help bring the eye away from the wall and break up all the brown. Have you considered a new rug? Even though you have ceiling lights consider adding lamps which would break up the wall. I'd do a table lamp on the table between the recliner and sofa and remove the other table next to the sofa and put a floor lamp in that corner. Make it so that the lamps are different heights to add more visual interest. I think if you add lamps and a new rug and a few accessories you'll see that brown wall disappear and then we can figure out what to put on it. Can you post a photo of the opposite wall.

You could add a bookcase on wall behind chair and large art over couch, creating an interesting and colorful focal wall.

Compliment art’s colors with cushions and a throw and accessorize coffee table, creating a really cozy room.

Have some fabric/upholstered wall panels made/installed. You could just do an accent wall or cover more.

Where is this house? Woods, mountains, city? What is the view out the slider, and can you get a few more pics, especially of the brick? I also think you need a bigger rug, and maybe tweak the furniture layout. Does that door need to be there? It might be better I’d you removed it. Here are a few ideas for color/art. You need a starting point - either a rug or art to get some colors picked.

Perhaps art that reflects a lot of light since the backdrop is so dark.

I agree that if you add some finishing touches to the rest of the room the big wall won't look so stark and intimidating to decorate. Table lamps, properly sized rug, pillows for the sofas.

Triptychs are an easy way to fill a long wall space.

I think the brown furniture on the brown wall is just exacerbating the issue. Can you get lighter furniture?

I actually just got rid of a light blue suede couch that i've had for years (it looked great) but we switched it out because we have 2 small kiddos. It was a mess within a year. Embarrassed to say, but this couch is new to us =) Hindsight, i wouldn't have bought brown...lol.

@ShadyWillowFarm acreage house from the 70's. Working on slowly updating but can't afford a full reno right now and husband has something against painting wood.. here is the other side of the room.. TV will be mounted on the fireplace with a mantel soon.

It's nice that you want to add a mantle to the fireplace but I would avoid hanging the t.v. The room is narrow and it will be too high for proper viewing. Leave the space open for seasonal decor instead. Would something like a quilt, as suggested above, work for you in the space? What style are you working toward in the room?

If you mount tv to fireplace, this mount would lower tv to eye level for comfortable viewing. There is also a motorized option.

Nice room! I would mount the tv above the fireplace and forego a mantle. PAINT THE BRICK. Brick is nothing but dirt and clay that has been turned into mud and baked. Nothing special about it. Unless you need to close the glass pane door between the rooms, take it down. That will allow you to center the couch on the wall and move the armchair to the other side, and the room will feel more balanced. For the next time you change sofas, consider cream furniture to go with your paneled walls. You can always get washable slipcovers.

Own it. if you're keeping the wall, then make it a feature. install some low profile black track lights on the ceiling and use wall washers with a warm color temperature to bring out the richness of the wood. it will make the room feel bigger and brighter.

Love the hide on the wall, those faux hides are great, also a great floor lamp. I’d be inclined to have curtain rod extended and shifted higher with light curtains, linen or burlap
