Any blue cabinetry you do is not timeless. So if you want navy on the island, just do it, it’s a personal choice.

You need inspiration images. Google the materials you have chosen, and select the images that look beautiful to you. Navy does not say “farmhouse kitchen” to me. I would go for a blue that borders on black.

I agree with @freedomplace1, you can’t really say that these are all timeless choices. Brass hardware was last popular in the 1960s and was very out of favor until about 2010 - 2015.

Yes I agree, it’s a personal choice and, in a few years, if you feel like a change the island can be painted again. Go with what you love.

For whatever it's worth, likely all of two cents, I've had brass hardware in my kitchen since 1999, made by Armac Martin in the UK and purchased at Lee Valley, and have never tired of it. It's a classic choice. What makes something truly timeless is whether or not you'll love it through time.

The navy island speaks more of Hamptons style, farmhouse would usually incorporate some natural wood elements, per examples below:

@beckysharp Reinstate SW Unconditionally I honestly don't have a particular style, I like a bit of everything... that bright green/yellow, teal, off-white and my couches are Natuzzi like a gold bronze colour. I'm obsessed with anything gold. I really don't like reds, oranges and browns.

@how2girl love it!! I also love colour which is why I hesitate between the more natural colours and a nice pop of colour on the island.

"modern farmhouse" style is pretty amorphous. Plus it doesn't have to be a particular style, as long as it suits the rest of the house and works well with your furnishings.

If you find yourself gravitating to blue -- which works well with gold, and brass (real brass, not eighties brass lol) -- do it, and don't worry about pigeonholing yourself into a particular style.

The added bonus is that the modern farmhouse trend has been around for a while and is on the way out. You don't have to tie yourself to something trendy -- that's the other secret to achieving timelessness : ) .
