Kathgrdn, we are not doing so well here in South Carolina either. Our governor does not want to enforce masks. Looks like a lot of stores will mandate them starting this week. Lowe’s is one of them. My husband went today. Even with the employees it was just 50%. Pretty much the only place I am going is Publix. Most of the cashiers are wearing them correctly. Most of the stock people you have to pass in the aisles do not. A good percentage of the customers wear them, but the ones not doing so are often the professional shoppers wandering down the aisles the wrong way. Looking at their phones. It’s getting really frustrating.

Elmer, it's a sad situation that it has been politicized. I've never understood how people can have seen the devastation in places like Italy and then believe it's an American Democratic hoax. WTH?

Our governor is trying to save lives and trying to stay positive. The attorney general is suing him now and trying to undue all of the mandates that the governor has put in place. This includes allowing positive covid 19 patients to stay home and get sick leave from their employer while they recover and so they don't spread it. The complete stupidity is beyond belief. I feel like I'm living in a 3rd world country and in many ways we are. Government attacks on peaceful protesters, stupidity during a pandemic, lack of testing and tracing. We've gone down the tubes and this is the first time in my life I'm ashamed of being an American.

I'm sure someone will complain about what I've just written. That's okay. It's how I feel right now.

Kathleen it is very similar here in Oklahoma. We had over 1000 new cases a few days ago.

Our governor didn't want to make a mask mandate... and now, he has Covid on top of everything else....

Oklahoma City's mayor has been trying to get a mask mandate... and we have one now, for public indoor places, since Friday.

I have been wearing a mask since early April, every-time I go indoors any place. I can't see a problem with it.

I am glad to note our Republican governor is taking the pandemic seriously. And not playing politics with it.

Rates are not increasing in Missouri. But given the amount of testing in areas that the governor states has a high rate of infection only having less than 20 new cases reported I think the reporting is off.

I am being a bit paranoid with the virus and the upcoming election and decided to replenish my supplies. After I finish grocery shopping tomorrow I am planning on staying home except for blood work and dentist in September.

WV cases are rising but not skyrocketing. The governor has mandated masks indoors, but very few people are complying. Stupid. Stupid. Stupid. Endangering others for their "freedumb."

We went through the worst of it in my state. My concern is that the incidence will pick up come the fall when people are inside all the time again. Right now, our reasonable summer weather has allowed people to socialize outdoors. But we have developed a good culture of masking with high compliance, which I hope will see us through.

NC numbers are not surging, but the graph has been a steady increase since the beginning. Our democratic governor has done a very good job, in my opinion. He has not bowed to pressure, and we've been under a mask mandate for a couple of weeks. We went to phase 2 (of 3) many weeks ago, but he has delayed phase 3 twice. Bars and gyms are still closed. Indoor dining is 50%, churches are open but with restrictions. Schools will be anybody's guess. He has ordered a mix of in-person and virtual, but individual systems are permitted to go all virtual if they want. It seems to be that many are going that way.

I am seeing much higher mask compliance now, I'd guess 75% or more, here in our little rural town. It's probably higher in the "big city", thats what I've been seeing all along. Now, the people without masks seem to stick out.

Governor Pritzker (D - Illinois) mandated lockdown March 21. It worked, and we've been fully 'open' now for some time. (Only the lakefront and beaches remain closed, because people refused to mask/distance there.)

The headline in today's Chicago Tribune addresses concern that we not let this mask/distancing advantage slip away; we may need to close bars and indoor dining again. The governor has divided our state into regions, attempting tothe fine-tune regulations based on covid stats in each one.

Bars seem to be a major problem as once people start drinking, they stop distancing...

For some reason people have this idea that no one in their immediate family could have the virus and suspend any safety procedures. While the bars have fueled some clusters family get togethers are one of the current hot spots. As the infections increase remember to stay safe with family. I have seen several mentions of finally being with family. No one knows who those family members have been with. The family member does not have to show symptoms to spread it to others. The last summer holiday for family get togethers is Labor Day. This year please for you own life and health forget them.

Virus infections in Wisconsin accelerated in July as seen in the link below. It's getting serious with the only bright spot being the number of deaths per infections. The Wisconsin state fair has been canceled, and field hospital was erected on its grounds. Since that facility has not been pressed into use at present, there was thought of dismantlement it until infection began to mount.

The new cases today were just under 300, but I think it's because it's always low right after the weekend. Hopefully not. The governor has now suggested that people reduce the number of people who get together from 50 to 10. He got emotional because one of the reporters asking questions asked about an incident with his son. Someone is taking pictures of his young son and posting pictures of him on the internet, trying to threaten him through his son. Sick. Same people are probably the ones who hung an effigy of him outside the governor's mansion. That sicko lives in my town and lost his job because of it.
