Wall mounted tub filler

Hi,

we just installed a new alcove bathtub for our master bathroom. We planned to use a deck mounted Tub filler (and even purchased it along with the tub). However, once the tub was installed the contractor noticed that the area where the faucet would be is angled so it cannot to there. He suggested a wall mounted faucet instead. when looking for a wall mounted filler I came across several obstacles:

(1) they are 3x the price of deck mounted ones. Why?

(2) we cannot have two separate hot/cold faucets unless we install a mixing valve (code regulation) and I am wondering if you all know what that looks like - does the mixing valve show externally? is it expensive to put in?

(3) there are very few choices for a single faucet, wall mounted filler (which would allow us to avoid the valve mentioned above)

im really at a loss here trying to find a tub filler. has anyone Installed a wall mounted tub filler that is in accordance with this code? Please help!!
