Stacey- No...as I mentioned in my first post, I got a wall-mounted one for about $400. You can see it in the picture I posted. I like a simple and clean look and the floor mounted ones look like fancy, exposed plumbing to me. If you can run your supply pipes up into the wall, all you need is the valve that's hidden in the wall, like a shower valve, and the spout and and handles that are surface mounted. l also like it because it doesn't take up space, and you don't have to worry about the structural issues that a floor mount sometimes requires,especially if you have to go through tile. My wall mount does go through wall tile, but I prefer that as it seemed easier than plumbing that has to go through and be secured to floor tile. Just my preference, but it made tub filling a whole lot cheaper. P.S.: I could have gotten a cheaper tub, but I preferred getting a name brand I had had good experiences with before. I'm sure that there are good quality tubs out there that sell for less than what I spent, but I'm not an expert on tub brands. I was simply happy spending $1620, as opposed to $3000-6000 locally.

There are plenty of lovely examples of wall-mounted faucets with free-standing tubs. Perhaps the one posted is not the best example. Most tub fillers used for free-standing tubs have the option to purchase accompanying hardware for floor, deck, or wall mount. The wall mount hardware may have the option of purchasing an extender to stand out from the wall a couple more inches. How quickly a faucet fills a tub is based on the gallons per minute (GPM) of the particular faucet. An example is the Rohl tub filler I bought to go with my clawfoot tub, which has the option of floor, deck, or wall mount. Mine will be wall mounted with an extender because I prefer the cleaner look of plumbing in the wall. My tub will be only a bit closer to the wall than with a floor mount, plus it saves about $1K by not buying a floor mount. A regular quick swiffering between the wall and the tub should keep the area clean enough with the very occasional deeper cleaning (no kids or pets will be using the tub). If you find something you like, be sure to ask your contractor or plumber if it will work with your particular tub. Reach is definitely an issue to double check. Good luck!

Not a silly question. When you have water forcefully hitting the inclined side of the tub high enough up, though most of it will splash downwards, some of it goes sideways, and some of it -- counterintuitively -- splashes back upwards from where it strikes the side and you can actually have a small puddle start to form on the floor in this area from water spray bouncing up and escaping this way. It the water doesn't hit the side of the tub, but only the bottom of the tub, it doesn't bounce high enough to do this.
