Where to start - Bachelor Pad
Comments (11)My brother bought his house a few years ago. He'd been in the military and didn't have much good furniture and wanted to replace most of what he had, anyway. He left his house the builder's off-white for two years. During that time, he started to buy some good quality furniture--a couch, an easy chair, a dining table. And his favorite colors started to emerge, mostly blues and grays. Then he started to paint. A light gray in the living room, with it's dark blue couch and chairs. A deep red in the dining room. Red and black in the kitchen. Gray in the sunroom. I don't venture upstairs in that house, but I know the bedroom is a pale blue-gray with blue and white bedding, only because he asked me for help with the bedding. The only thing I know about the study/guest room is that it has 4 computers and a huge TV and a beanbag chair, and that's all I want to know. (And I never thought I'd see the day when my dear brother, combat veteran that he is, would panic over which of 6 shades of red paint he should buy.) So I agree with PPs, start pretty neutral and let him live in the space for a while before starting to decorate....See MoreRipping Up Carpet On Stairs-How to Bachelor-ize?
Comments (24)tinan, thanks for those pictures. And the detailed instructions. They are very helpful. Thanks to all of the other ideas too. I think we will see what is under the rug, and try to stain the treads first, then move on to Plan B if that looks horrid. I also saw a really cool idea using wallpaper on the risers, Birch Trees, to be exact. He has a big mural of birch trees at the bottom of the stairs and I think doing something like that might be really cool. Would not do wallpaper but thinking about a stencil. Comments (9)what a pretty place!! the fireplace, the shelving..oh my you gravitate to more modern glam-a bit-boho from what I read-so yes, your coffee table, TV console and, lastly, dining table are in a bit of a dissonance..a bit too rustic. also they have to be bigger. But not bulky visually, at the same time. (to the light, I'd get last unless I stumble upon something I love-because currently it kinda goes with everything. But you need to love your lights, no question. you can go any direction with the light here-the bones are handsome, the light is like jewelry that can be modern or taditional, stark or fancy) what's the budget? you have this great site there..not on the high street..it's huge..https://www.notonthehighstreet.com/home you also must have Anthropologie, right? you also have my favorite envy-https://www.rockettstgeorge.co.uk/ (the prices are allover) I'd look for a bit of metal. maybe a bit of stone or glass, a bit of woven texture to tie it all to the kitchen.. here are their side and coffee tables for example..I hesitate to make specific suggestion without knowing the budget https://www.rockettstgeorge.co.uk/furniture/tables/coffee-side-tables/show/48.html...See MoreBachelor pad bedroom design - WWYD?
Comments (42)There are literally 1000s of pics of adult male bedrooms on line we have no real info. I do not think an adults bedroom needs to emobrace their hobbies like you do with a child. Some nice art that he chooses would be good this is one of the 1000s Maybe get him to look at some to see where his head is I find male clients have notions thye just seem to have a hard time expressing them As for colors I look in the closet. and it also gives you sme clue as to their style....See MoreChase Cramer
