Paint Colors for Vaulted Ceiling/Beams/Walls

the Beams pictured are painted brown, not stained. I really want to paint white, but I am wondering if walls/ceiling/beams should all be same shade? And then what about trim? Would love as advice on colors!

We are waiting on a new couch that is more of a greige color. I am wondering if painting everything white with white kitchen cabinets is too much? It just feels very dark in my home and I don’t like the painted beams!

It is your taste that directs the decision on the painting the beams. But i see no other lighting in your room but the ceiling fan lights. Your really need more lighting, whether table lamps or floor lamps.You will be amazed at the improvement more lighting will bring to your room. Will you be adding rugs,pillows or artwork to the room? These additions will also improve your room greatly.

And please no mirrors!

Yes, I agree on the lighting - we are trying to figure it out. I’ve had an electrician come and there is no way to add an outlet by the table at front door, so limited on table lamp options. But once we get new couch I will get a floor lamp! Waiting to hang art/decor once we paint. Thanks for your input!

Do everything except trim in flat. I was skeptical when my paint contractor suggested this, but it’s turned out well. Flat is no more difficult to clean and is easy to touch up. Also, flat minimizes flaws and that dappled texture that annoys some people.

I have a family room with a lot of natural light and vaulted ceilings. I am (likely) painting the walls BM Solitude (a blue tone). For the ceiling, my husband wants white but my designer suggested a lighter/softer color so we do not have a huge expanse of white on the large ceiling. So, I will likely paint the ceiling BM Horizon (a subtle blue gray). Has anyone done something like this? I would love to see photos! Thanks!

"Usually, the paint for a bedroom is not selected until the bedding has been selected so" and if you change your bedding often? Sounds inconveniently traditional. You could paint the walls at full strength and go 25-50% saturation of the same color on the ceiling so it feels cohesive. You could pick a color on the same color strip or in the same color area. Try this article The Trouble With A North-Facing Room it lists your paint choice as an option. I think it's more modern to go with the same color and you could make it work with the high ceilings to alleviate the feeling of a cave. Have fun please - no white ceilings :)

I would also consider asking your electrician about installing electrical outlets in your floor for future lamp use. Not everyone on this forum likes them, but I have found them helpful.
