Furniture in small guest bedroom
Comments (3)Rather than a chest or dresser consider a blanket/cedar chest or a low chest that you can place on either side of the bed and use as an alternative to a second nightstand, you can store unused linens and it makes a nice parking place for a guest's luggage while they are visiting. With your space limitations, I would consider a small nightstand on the side of the bed nearest the window and then maximize the amount of space between the door and bed. Near your square(if it is a solid wall) I would try to place a chair on an angle with a small table. This really provides everything a short-term guest needs. Also, if you change the swing on the door so that it opens against the wall the room with look larger....See MoreNeed paint recs for a small guest North East bedroom?
Comments (24)Unfortunately it looks like my bedding will not be here on time for me to pick a color from it dammit I've taken a couple picks but bc the room is so small its hard to photograph (smaller than 8x10,now more like 8x8 i think bc we had to take some of the room up for bathtub). My next post will have a pic of view from hallway, So technically, if I do paint that wall on the left of the window in an accent color, it can't be seen unless you step in it. I'm narrowing it down to for Philadelphia Cream on the walls I think and Cloud White Trim. I'm really leaning towards painting the ceiling Philly cream too. I really don't like white ceilings. I'm headed down to take a look at Summer Lime and Castleton Mist in an hour. Does anyone have anything else to recommend? I have serious color fatigue. Has anyone painted their ceiling philadelphia cream?...See MoreWhat size bed for a 10 year old? Small bedroom issue!
Comments (27)Twin bed with a desk and/or bookshelves and bulletin board Or several bulletin boards) and full-length mirror on back of door. Good lighting AND (if possible) a small chair. BASIC REASONS FOR EACH SUGGESTION: Twin bed to allow for more room (perhaps a blow-up Aero bed for guest?) Desk and/or bookshelves to develop a love of crafts, art projects, books and reading on real paper! (not just the computer!) Bulletin boards allow fast and easy changes of personal photos and "stuff" A full-length mirror on back of door for checking the full "look" (and to free up time in the family bathroom LOL!) Good lighting by the bed and around the whole room. A small cozy chair is wonderful to have a space that is so private (like a hug from your home!) Always loved having my own desk with my own books in my own room! (wish I had one now! sigh) Used the desk for MY art projects! LOVED having MY own books ..... Comments (16)Thank you partim. It took me forever to get the furniture how I wanted that was functional and didn't look awful. Like I wanted to see the tv from the desk and bed, and I wanted my phone and laptop cords to reach both as well so I wouldn't have to have two sets. It was just a bunch of little things. Those are great ideas and the pictures look great. The little black table is a foldup and doesn't stay there, I just occasionally use it for extra desk space when I need it. It actually goes in the closet when not in use. I can't really hang the shadow boxes so that's why they are on top of the dressers for now. Maybe one day I'll get to hang them. As for moving the dressers and swapping out some of the art, that's something I'll definitely have to consider. I'm not sure if the dressers will fit there if I move the TV over because the drawers may not have clearance to open but I might try. The TV doesn't get hit by the door, I was worried at first it would but it's a closet and I don't swing it open fast and it would hit the stand first before the TV if I did....See Morejck910
