Furniture in small guest bedroom

I am trying to decide about a dresser and nightstand(s) for a small guest bedroom. Storage is not really an issue. I already have a queen bed in the room and have ordered a simple metal headboard.

My room is about 10'8" x 13' overall, but because of the location of the door, closet doors, window, and an architectural feature (I don't know what to call it but it is kind of the opposite of a bump-out; it is named "square" on the floorplan) in one corner of the room, I think I am pretty limited in my furniture placement options.

I was looking at one collection, but the smallest footprint chest of drawers or dresser available has a 62" width. I don't want to block any of the light from my only window, so the only place I can put this dresser is on the wall at the foot of the bed. The problem is that this only leaves about 2' of space between the bed and the dresser. This seems too crowded to me. A furniture salesperson told me 18" is the minimum. I'm attaching a link to my floorplan.

The other option I have is to buy a taller but narrower chest of drawers and place those next to the window (on the left). I feel like this is better in terms of my floorplan, but I'll have to choose different furniture.

I'd appreciate any opinions about this. Thanks!

Thanks for your response. I've decided not to purchase the dresser I was considering and will find another collection that has a drawer chest that is narrow enough (42" or less)to fit next to my window without blocking it. The collection I was considering has been discontinued, and certain pieces are sold out already. I think that a chest with larger drawers (3 - 6) will work better than a lingerie chest. When I don't have guests, I will store my guest linens in the drawers. Plus, I prefer a lower height top to display some decorative items.

@Allison...I dont really have a preference for the bedding, we just moved into a new house and that was one set I had which was complete :). I can definitely change it. @ingrid...thanks for the suggestion about the pillow...that is exactly what I was thinking, something orange which goes with the flower. Unfortunately I didnt get to see the flower in the store, its online only....so I might have to take the risk of buying and returning if I dont like it. Cooks.

So I just tweeked your current plan a little bit by doing pier style cabinets on either side of the bed. Then you don’t have to have a nightstand. Or you can just do full height wardrobes. You will have to account for the jogs in the wall so that the bed is positioned so that you can get the doors open. Then the desk would be opposite the bed and possibly add a little bookcase. I am showing a queen sized bed.

Yikes! I didn't know that about pop-up trundles. Good to know so as to avoid them. I wonder if there are different quality ones that might be better? The day bed looks like it might work for kids, but I would hate to be the person in the back who would be up against a wall and have to climb out over the front person. eta: I looked again and it looks like it can be designed so there is no back on it, which might work perfectly, so you can have it away from the wall for access from both sides.

Rather than a chest or dresser consider a blanket/cedar chest or a low chest that you can place on either side of the bed and use as an alternative to a second nightstand, you can store unused linens and it makes a nice parking place for a guest's luggage while they are visiting. With your space limitations, I would consider a small nightstand on the side of the bed nearest the window and then maximize the amount of space between the door and bed. Near your square(if it is a solid wall) I would try to place a chair on an angle with a small table. This really provides everything a short-term guest needs. Also, if you change the swing on the door so that it opens against the wall the room with look larger.
