Woodworking Design Dilemma Kitchens

I want to buy Cabinet fronts only

I am wanting to build a kitchen in a cargo trailer. I went to lowest and noticed the fronts along with the drawers and doors of thier low end cabinets were solid wood of not terrible quality. The rest left a lot to be desired. I want to buy the fronts just as they are in the store just as if I ripped the box off and had the grooves to insert the plywood in to attach for the box. This will also allow me to do custom depths and shapes (cut off corners) for this project. I can find drawers, drawer fronts, doors etc just not the complete hardwood front with drawers doors and hardware. Any help or direction is greatly appreciated.

I have no clue what you are talking about , grooves for plywood? I assume you went to Lowes not lowers . IMO you need to go to a caibinet maker and get what you want. I don’t know what a cargo trailer is , do you mean a shipping container?

You might be better with RTA (Ready To Assemble) Cabinets which would allow you to cut them to your sizes as needed. Here are some sources.

As someone said, V&B is a very fine company. Because of outsourcing practices these days, the only thing I'd do is make sure it's really made in Germany or at least Europe. To me it would be sad to import it, only to find out that they'd outsourced its production to China! Amazingly even the Germans are doing that. Just found a carry bag yesterday by a German company, only to see it was made in China. Sad state of things. Don't even get me started on the new Spode products now made in China... I have Spode mugs made in England that are 13 years old and have seen microwave and DW use all that time and are fine give or take a chip or loose handle, and I get a new one made in China three months ago, and all the glaze is already crazed/cracked. There IS a difference in things coming from China. OK I am stepping away from the soapbox...

Where to buy "only" a vanity cabinet?

Look at kohler.com and maybe some other manufacturers that sell cabinets if your size is a standard size. Then go to build.com and see what they have. I got my kohler vanity cabinet and most of my fixtures from them several years ago (their faucetdirect site, IIRC). They have a lot of suppliers. Call them if you need to talk. You may have to pay freight but it may be worth it. Do your research (reviews, shipping, returns, promo codes, etc.) I love my kohler cabinet. The pieces didn't fit together perfectly, but they were good enough for me and the overall effect is beautiful.

Drawers are definitely the answer, and you'll have to ensure that the items that he will be accessing the most are in the higher drawers. I have somewhat the same issue in that DH has mobility issues, and can't reach down easily. One of my pet peeves is accessing the bottom item in a stack.... because it doesn't matter what I want, it's always at the bottom! For that reason I don't care for the deep drawers. Fortunately, dinnerware is the exception to the "it's always at the bottom" problem, so I ended up with wide, 4 drawer stacks that were sized to accommodate my dinnerware, and below that 2 drawers that are tall enough to hold items in shorter stacks. This address 2 issues. One being the ability to access the bottom item in a stack, and also allows the dinnerware to be located slightly higher than a typical 3 drawer stack. To determine how much room I needed, I just measured the height of my stacks of dinnerware and ensured that the drawers had that much clearance. This is a 6"/8"/8"/8" stack.

The outlets Jakabedy posted are the ones I have on our backsplash. We have way too many outlets on our splash and it's ridiculous. In your case I would take a tile to the paint store and have them match it. Fwiw, they can do it exactly. Don't settle for close enough if it looks a tad off and they're trying to tell you it won't be noticeable when installed blah, blah. I have them adjust, adjust, adjust. Someday when I redo a kitchen the outlets will be under the cabinets (forget what that's called) so you don't see them at all. Like Bumble I have the other outlet covers (and vents) in our house painted too.

An enclosed trailer that can be pulled by a Suv or light pick up truck. Also can be converted into a camper trailer. And yes Lowes. The grooves were cut in back of the face for the sheets of particle board to fit into to make the box. I want to just have to cut ply wood of the same thickness and just glue it in and brace the corners. Because of limited space the cabinets have to be custom built to fit in the available space. Hope that gives a better idea of what I'm looking for. Thanks for the reply.

Spring and summer is remodel season and people that rip out their old kitchens, often donate th cabinets and their doors. You only need a relatively small number for that size project so check with Habitat for Humanity Restore Stores near you for donated cabinets at bargain prices -- likely less for the entire cabinet than custom doors. then you can build your openings in your cabinets sized to use the doors you have.

Buy the complete junk cabinet and throw away/modify what you don't want, BTW those doors and frames are about the same quality as the box.

Skip the face frames altogether and go frameless if you are looking for finished cabinets.

If you want unfinished and face frames then build face frames. If you have the tools and skills to build boxes and drawers, then you have the tools and skills to build face frames. I am not a fan of pocket holes personally but they are a lot better than Lowes stock cabinets.
