Comments (2)Morning, Marina, Some plants are as finicky as a cat. How long is the cutting?? Cut off the rotted part and into the green, under a node. Place cutting in fresh water. Or better yet, room-temp water. Perhaps your water is hard? Good luck, Toni...See MoreMy pothos are dying! (i think)
Comments (4)The second rule of gardening is to never ever buy any plant that doesn't seem healthy. Some pothos naturally have golden or white blotches or streaks... but black spots are not a good thing, although if the black is from paint or marker or dirt, the plant will survive. Otherwise, yellowing leaves usually indicates either having been too dry for too long or in the dark for too long or something else that is killing the plant. If those black spots aren't paint, and that were my plant, I'd take it back to the seller ASAP. If you get another one, wipe down the shelves and blinds with rubbing alcohol to disinfect any possible spores from sick plant before putting a healthy plant in the same area. Pothos are very forgiving and adaptable. It would be happiest with a couple hours of direct north light, but it will do nicely with indirect light all day. Blinds that are closed don't count as indirect light -- so tip the slats about ¼ open so that *light* but not sunshine can get through. They would rather have too much artificial light than not enough. It takes about 16 hours of closeby 150w lamplight to equal 8 hours natural light. From their viewpoint, the ceiling light is about like a full moon - pretty, but not much to grow by....See Morecan any1 help me save my dying pothos plant???
Comments (1)Try to find some clean pieces of the vine, break them off from the mother, stick in a jar of water, and root them. Once rooted, you can repot those. Mealies devastated a number of my plants this past year and they don't just settle on the plant or in the soil but on the pot sides, on windowsills and even on walls or floors. You have to make sure that you wipe down the entire area where the plant was to hope to get rid of them. Aside from using straight rubbing alcohol on a q-tip, you could try some Bayer Advanced as a systemic. Read the dierctions on how much to mix and how often to use. External sprays other than maybe alcohol/water and possibly Neem, are usually ineffective against mealies....See Morecan any1 help me save my dying pothos plant???
Comments (1)Hi, I would sugeest that you remove all dead debris and scraggly looking stems and start over. Take what is free of bugs and "healthy" looking and repot it into a smaller pot using fresh soil. Keep it in shade or filtered light and water when it appears to be dry on the surface of the soil. You can also root these in water if you wanted to try to save some of the stems. Good Luck, Kelly...See MoreAmethyst Niamh
