That's a big undertaking. Its tough enough to deal with all the construction choices, fixtures, kitchen, lighting, etc. let alone paint choices. Paint colors are so difficult in the best of situations. One thing to keep in mind is each color change will probably cost you $$. That may help you keep it simple! If I were you, I would focus on making choices for any rooms that would be more difficult for you to re-paint later, like 2-story foyers, etc. Or rooms that would be very inconvenient to paint later like a master bedroom with large, heavy furniture pieces to get out of the way. If there are kids, I would let each child pick their own room color. I like the idea of a high energy color for an exercise room, if you are positive on which room that will be and it won't change purposes. Lime green popped into my head. Many choices. Other than that, find 3 neutrals that you love (in the store), put some samples on the walls as soon as drywall is up (prime first). observe it in different lights. Pick a winner and go with that. More than 3 can be too hard to choose, less than 3 really isn't enough. Once the samples are up, its usually easy. I think any more complexity will be too stressful, but of course, I don't know your stress threshhold. Mine would burst! I wouldn't worry too too much about floor hardwood tones. You'll likely have runners and area rugs down. The overall color theme of the room controls more. Having said that, I was browsing recently on myperfectcolor.com (benj moore) and I noticed they had packages of "coordinated color themes". That may help you keep all of downstairs or all of upstairs cohesive if you decide to go with multiple colors.

My living room is far from finished, but I have it painted in a light gray with white trim and a single large purple accent wall. The purple is a deep, dark, rich purple. I also have a scattering of purple accents in the room, as well as black and white and cream, brown leather, and dark wood. I love the color combination of gray and purple and visitors often compliment the color combination.

I need suggestion to choose the interior paint color of 2 story house with high ceilings. We have SW Kilim Beige all over the house right now with SW off white trims and doors. First floor is yellowish tile - Eclipse Desert shade and second floor is carpet Flax beige. These are the standard builder colors we had from last 6 years, now we are looking for something modern that is refreshing. We are leaning mostly towards white or grey family but not able to conclude since the tiles are yellow shade. We don’t have plans to change tile or carpet at this time, btw kitchen cabinets are Espresso and kitchen counter - Bordeaux dream. Pros- Help me to choose the right color to our house.
