I think.. I will leave the drapes where they are (they do just touch the floor) . The more I thought about it, one of the reasons I hung them here were because the adjoining breakfast room is paneled, with no window casing at all. It looks weird with just drapes, and I hung a valance over it to hide it... but I may revisit this again in the future! lol The shade.. I have thought of that, but using a shade I would block the entire view for hours during the day. I would see like to see the view, with blinds, I could tilt them upward and still see out & let light in. My other option I thought of is roller solar shades.... just thought maybe since the rest of the house was blinds I should go with blinds, but I feel that the opinions here is NOT to use blinds... ?

LWO: Originally I had a wall blind corner with the original layout, then I changed from an OTR microwave to a microwave wall cabinet and wood range hood. That changed the upper cabinets. The problem is that I'm big with symmetry and didn't like the look on the sink or range wall because cabinets on either side of the window on the sink wall and cabinets on either side of the range hood weren't balanced. Funkycamper: I don't feel comfortable with cutting down the 15 1/2" to 13 1/2" cabinet. I don't mind assembling the cabinets. Years ago I actually assembled and stained cabinets for my parent kitchen. buehl: I did think about doing all wall cabinets at 15 1/2" deep, but thought that they would be too deep and look strange with 24" base. Can you post your 15" wall cabinets over 24" base? Not sure about doing 27" deep cabinets or pulling them out 3". Something to think about. My concern with that is how the range would look. I'm actually doing a 26" deep sink cabinet in the current plan to add some visual interest. I've looked at other cabinet lines that will do 13 1/2" EZ Reach corner, but they're about 50 % higher then Contestoga. The cost of the cabinets from Conestoga are about $8500 to $8900 depending on who I go with. They're is about 16 total cabinets not including 30" deep fridge end panels. The primary reason for window treatments would be for privacy at night. Any treatment would be opened during the daytime. This is our family room and we spend a lot of time in there. It is the back of the house, but our neighbors are not far and with the lights on, you would be able to see us walking around, watching tv, etc. The other reason would be to add some color or design to an empty wall. There's no room to hang anything decorative except for using the door and window as a base for design.

It’s an open loft so there will be light regardless. The little window faces west, no view out that window except the roof. I think I’ll just ignore it to start. To be honest I’m not sure the room will get slept in much. The two beds are antiques inherited from my husband’s grandmother. They are an odd size at 30” wide by 78” long. So only really comfortable for kids. However, I love them and have always wanted a spot to use them. My kids are grown and we are years away from grandchildren I think. It is a nice spot for a nap or to read, I sit up there with my iPad and the little dogs love the little beds lol. Once my daughter settles down and has her own place they are promised to her. In the meantime I’m going to enjoy them.
