Laundry Room on 2nd Floor

Hello Everyone,

this is is my first time posting on this forum.

I recently moved my washer and dryer to the basement from the second floor. My wife and I were tired of how loud the noise was especially with my daughters room next to it. now that we are no longer using the 2nd floor laundry room and don’t plan too in the foreseeable future I wanted to ask what should I do with the drainage pipe? I don’t have any covering to seal the hole, can I just plus it with a stopper? Would that be sufficient? Or do I need to pl it with something specific? Thank you.
