Do Plantation shutters have to match the trim?

I’m thinking of changing my interior trim & interior doors to a light grey and going with white walls. my only concern is that we have white plantation shutters throughout our home. would it be ok to leave them white against a light grey trim or should we paint them the same grey too? My biggest Concern is that you can see them from the outside and they may not look great with our exterior brick and siding colors. I can’t find any pictures of where anyone has done this.

IMO no to leaving them white but also why would paint the trim gray? why not the walls? much better look and way less expensive than painting all the trim & shutters

I really like the Grey trim/white walls look. We have white trim and grey walls now and am wanting to do something different. I have a feeling the plantation shutters are gonna hinder that plan though. Here are some examples of what I am thinking.

Yes, Penney's installed them and it's included in the price. There was only a choice of real wood or composite. Then you could pick your color (they had many colors including stained) You also pick your louver size. They are made my Norman Shutters. Scroll through their website and there are some beautiful pictures. I wonder if different Penney's use different brands???? I only did the front of my house but that included french doors and that sometimes raises the price a bit. So with my 40% off sale, my total for 14 windows and 2 french doors was $6100 and then I got another 10% off for doing the whole house with them. (wood blinds on the back) So that brought it down to $5490 The French doors have a cutout for the lever that I think looks pretty cool. Here is a link that might be useful: Norman Shutters

We had this same problem when we built last year. We have no white on the exterior of the house but have creamy white trim on the inside everywhere except DH's study. When it came time to put shutters on the walk-in closet, we chose to use the stained shutters with white trim and it looks fine. Here's a picture:

Ok, I know what you mean about visualizing, I'm like that too. Here goes....the sill cap is a "cover" that goes over the existing window sill. It is simply cosmetic as it is larger than the existing sill and would make the shutters "blend" better with the sill. This is an outside mount. From the side, as if you rested your cheek on the wall, a gap is visible because the sill cap can't slide toward the window quite far enough (because of the "fancy" trim on the sill edge). I'm still practicing with that new camera. Could anyone post pics of their plantation shutter/sill situation? Maybe I would luck out and be able to say "yes yes--like your situation!" Thanks for trying to help me figure this out.

Where do you live, jtaime2? Do you want them for weather protection, shade, etc? Can you post a pic of your house so people can advise better, as to whether they think they'd work visually in your case? Images of Bermuda shutters

I think white shutters will look nice with white walls and grey trim. Idk why they would have to match the trim...they aren’t trim

We have white plantation shutters throughout our house and prefer the matching white trim. It works nicely from both inside and out. It depends on the exterior of your house, but I'd be very concerned how gray shutters would look. I'd paint the walls light gray and leave shutters/trim white.

Thank you for your input :) that is what we have now. Just trying to think outside of the box and do something different since everything needs a refresh. The plantation shutters were obviously a huge investment for us so just trying to see if anyone else has kept them white but used the grey trim. I’m on the fence! I may paint one room and see how it looks w grey trim/white shutters. Stay tuned! Thanks for you comments!!

i’m curious about what you decided on your shutter color i painted my walls with a light gray and used a dark gray trim My rooms are large with high celings so there is plenty of light

i am considering having my shutters dipped in a white with a gray understone i’m getting a sample of a shutter in that color next week i’m sticking with white but the color white that I currently have will not work with gray so my shutters will need to change or else I’ll have to go back to white trim Just curious with what you did
