Am I making a mistake by not making my appliances matchy matchy
Comments (24)re ice maker. We have had this model twice. We had a 2008 model in a prior house that we did not buy. That one had the ice freezing problem. It wasn't a huge deal - we just thawed the ice every few weeks and start over. This one we have now is a 2014 mode that we plugged in about a year ago. No ice trouble. It is very quiet. The filtered water works great. No complaints. I found a bunch of the filters in a mark down section and bought them up. So far, they last us about 6 months each. Easy to replace. Don't throw away the plastic part that attaches to the filter. I did that the first time by mistake. I had to order another online....See MoreYikes I see so many white kitchens! Comments (68)PineBaron I'm with your DW on white or really dark, but I've had the white (although not my first choice at the moment) and gonna go for the really dark. Glad to hear I have a buddy in the process :) Sounds like you have a similar color scheme and other ideas I'm going for. I don't know why it makes me feel good to know that I'm not out in lala land with my ideas. lol omg i just clicked on the link! are you kidding me. that is gorgeous property, view, home! Loveit! the interior, the kitchen is what i envision on a smaller scale. I even have several sizes of that long bar hardware pictured in your kitchen drawing. Love the stacked cabinets . May I ask how tall those cabinets are stacked? such a cool look. Just wondering if there is a rule for stacking sizes? I like it when the bottom one is still somewhat tall then the top more of a square. Not sure if I have the ceiling height, but looks like you will! Living room, bathroom love. wow thanks for sharing all the pics. i'm gonna go read the whole thread and I'll be following you! good luck your blessed to have all that, enjoy! thanks again for sharing :)...See MorePlease help me. Comments (11)I was wondering where they were to be planted and was thinking you were amending outdoor soil. I've never ordered cuttings this way, but I would think the cut ends would be adequately hardened off by the time you receive them. You'll want to plant them in your mix and not water until they have roots, maybe a couple weeks. If you like, post a pic of the cuttings you get before you plant them and you'll get feedback from experts (not beginners like me)....See MorePlanning a landscape. Am I making mistakes? Comments (37)I'm worried that you might not be aware that Live Oaks take many years (!!!) to achieve 'shade tree' status. And the larger they are when planted, the slower they grow. Also, Live Oaks are extremely messy trees. No one in their right mind would plant them anywhere near a pool. They shed copious leaves in the late winter as the new buds begin to grow; it's the normal growth habit for Live Oaks, which are not true 'evergreens'. Their small leaves are slow to difficult to blow from walkways, a nightmare to clean from pools, and extremely slow to decompose. Did I say copious? After the leaf fall comes the dreaded shedding of the male catkins, which build up in drifts for several weeks until they all finish dropping. This is another major pool clogger. Then, there comes the winter acorn fall! Not only are they capable of dropping bushels of the little things, but they can become a hazard on pathways, and will stain a pool bottom. I have overseen the landscape management programs of several coastal SC resort and golf properties, all of which were thick with Live Oaks, old and newly planted. They were a PITA. I'm not even going to discuss the situation with the grass....See MorePatricia Colwell Consulting
