Just moved in! Any ideas on how to decorate theses spaces?

My family and I just moved into an older home a few days ago. The house is dated and needs some TLC! Any ideas on how I can decorate these spaces? Your ideas would be great appreciated. Thank you.

The floors look very nice. It looks like one of your plans is to lighten the wall color which will help freshen up the rooms.

If you are decorating novice, I would suggest that when you pick colors and decor to not ignore the warm tones in the floors. It is much easier to achieve a cohesive looking space when all the color tones work together. Cool grays and bright whites are popular and can look nice with warm wood floors but it is a hard look to pull off.

I may get another mirror table top but I still need the big mirror for my hair and things. a lil mirror will not do just for my makeup etc. I always said the writting desk was going to be use as vanity and act as a area you can use for your laptop. I agree with the console table. I am thinking about doing like a rectangular gold dish and a orchid plant. I wanted him to place the TV at that height just in case I was going to add some type of tall vase or pillars candles.

I feel option A is better among all, except for the play area because you will be having a whole room downstairs for that. And maybe move the dining a little to the left near the window. You can add a partition to divide the room into living and dining and mount tv on it. Place a storage unit /crockery unit behind the partition. I would still recommend you to opt for the layout shown in the 3d renders as its quiet functional and space is best-made use of. Maybe instead of a tv on the wall, you can use a media partition to divide the living and the dining. The wall along the kitchen can be used to place storage units or shelving. Let me know if you need me to do more 3D layout to help you visualize better.

you have a very lovely room. you may want to consider a Chesterfield style sofa in a grey. I would place the sofa across from the fireplace and then the two chairs looking out the window... not sure if you have enough room for two sofas. looks like you also need to place a kitchen table and chairs too. insay that because with the open area you have, it may start to look crowded. heres a grey chesterfield sofa with some ivory chairs to give you an idea of how it would look with your chairs.

Strat by getting a lower TV cabinet and putting the TV at the proper viewing height so the top lines up with the opening on that wall, Are you able to get new furniture ? I do not like the 2 chairs not facing the FP or the TV IMO a sofa and 2 chairs would be a much better choice . You need a large piece of art on that wood wall . Could you maye take a coulpe more pics to show the whole space

What is the black on the wall behind the sofa? The angled wall in the entry maybe could have a bench and a piece of art but need to see the whole space in both instances. IMO that dark wall unit just gobbles up light so i would need to know what you need it for. I would start by changing all the light bulbs to LEDs in 4000K that will brighten up the spaces also make choosing wall colors that will look the same at all times of the day and night.

The black thing looks like a fireplace? Odd that it is tiled that way. I'm not sure your sectional is going to work in this space. Agree to find a nice small console for the angled wall and a mirror or artwork and perhaps a small scale lamp for that table. Maybe a nice tray for mail? I would not go all grey in this house but would stay with warm tones to highlight the nice floors.

Thanks for the wonderful suggestions, the person that sold us the house left this tv stand. I have someone picking it up on Monday. I think it’s too huge for the space. My sectional is from Macy’s and it’s a 6 piece set, so I’m able to remove sections if needed. The fireplace has black granite and I think it looks horrible. The house also has very little light coming in. I will definitely be getting the LEDS that we’re suggested. The floors will also be getting removed. I’m going to put in some new ones. They are lighter and warm light brown color.

The sectional could go on the wall where the wall unit is. You could put the tv over the fireplace.

Are the floors red oak hardwood? They can be refinished in a different color if you wish. What type of flooring are you replacing the floors with?

If you decide to put tv over fireplace, this is a mount that can lower tv to eye level. There is also a motorized option.
