Recessed area above our front door of our center hall colonial?
Comments (10)Thanks to you all for your comments! You are correct - it's a 1978 built center hall colonial. Since we purchased the home 2 years ago we have removed the overgrown shrubs in the front beds. Where the window WOULD be above the front door on the second floor is actually the exterior wall of my daughter's walk-in closet for her bedroom (which is at the end of the center hall). We have toyed with the idea of adding a window just to create that symmetry (despite it being in her closet), but we are still torn. I can't seem to find example photos of homes WITHOUT that center window above the front door. Again, thanks for your responses....See MoreIdeas on adding a gable over our front doors and window above them
Comments (7)I agree a gable will look all wrong for this style of house and so are the doors and that arched trim is also wrong over the door. Google modern house entryies and see what might work I honestly have no idea wahy you would want to cover a window at all. I could see a cedar 2 step deck at the front with a flat extension maybe over the door and attached to the jut out on the right . IMO a new paint color and trim would make a huge difference along with the new doors....See MoreTransom above front door?
Comments (23)Good morning Houzz.... We are less than two months away from move in and crunch time has begun with the flury of decisions yet to be made. We love how the exterior is coming together with the Certainteed Pacific Blue Siding ProVia Shawnee dry stack choices. Vinyl craftsman columns have yet to be installed on top of the stone porch pillars. We are about to pick paint colors and will be painting our front door. Our original thought was to pick out a medium-dark brown to match the stone on the front of the house. Any suggestions or feedback with front door color?...See MoreAbove front door help
Comments (8)I think the door should be the dark color, but the sidelights, the trim and the window unit should be white. Are you painting the trim around the other windows white? I would keep the half moon and the circle the same color as the siding....See MoreJamie Reilly
