Bad off-gassing and fumes from cabinet paint

Our contractor is painting our kitchen cabinets with sher wood hi-bird acrylic lacquer. The plan was to complete this in the garage and last minute he requested to paint them in our adjacent living room because it was easier. They taped off the living room in a sealed bubble but the fumes and off gassing are still unbearable throughout the entire house.

Is it acceptable to ask him to come back and move everything to the garage?

I asked before he left and he said he would let me know Monday (today is Friday). So, we’d wait the whole weekend. I have a toddler son and pets and I’m concerned about the off gassing. I’m tempted to tear everything out now because it’s so bad despite widows open and fans through the house.
