Am I being too picky?
Comments (31)It needs to be re-done, I'm afraid by someone else. I wouldn't want that same guy going near my backsplash again. Hire someone who is experienced; this guy evidently was not. So sorry about this. But once it's done right, you will have the pleasure of enjoying it for years to come. Also, while I prefer an outlet installed horizontally the way yours is, it's too high. Anything plugged into it will show the cords dangling from it. If you decide to re-do the backsplash, see if you can lower the receptacle too....See MoreAm I being to picky?
Comments (27)April, I would see if your city/county has a registrar of contractors and report him. This is unsafe and the tile job is terrible. He should NOT be doing remodeling homes. I would not give up and replace this at your cost quite yet. There has to be some recourse on your part because these are his errors and they need to remedied, hopefully at his cost. If you can get an inspector out there, do not forget to ask about the WATERPROOFING system. If this was not done correctly, it will likely need to be torn out. If this guy did any other work on your house, you may consider hiring another contractor or inspector to review it to ensure that other shoddy or dangerous work was not done. Editing to add: In my state, the registrar of contractors will send an inspector to review the work. They will give the contractor a chance to remedy it, at their cost....See MoreDrywall contractor “finished”. Should he fix or am I being picky?
Comments (17)Maybe he forgot to come back. In your op he said he has to wait for it to dry and sand some more and he hasn't come back. Obviously not done yet. Call him and remind him. Sometimes getting paid in full before they are totally finished makes you not as high priority. Give him a week then post a review that job hasn't been finished when paid in full....See MoreIs this an acceptable paint job? Or am I being picky?
Comments (8)Whether it's a mistake or a feature of the different paint types, it sounds to me like you'll want it redone (and I agree - I couldn't abide that visual). I'd go reorder a pint of the trim paint (perhaps from a different store) and check it for a match to what's now on your trim. If it is indeed just a difference in how the paint materials present, you're on the hook for the change and finding a color that actually works. If the paint was actually mixed incorrectly, then you can probably negotiate with the painters to redo the work at their cost (if they sourced the paint), or go to the paint store for any damages/reimbursement (if you procured and supplied the paint). Either way, sorry you were disappointed with the results and no you're not overly picky!...See Morestrategery
