Window blind/roller shade mount for casement windows

I would prefer to do inside mount of window blinds/roller shades but the window covering installer said that my casement handle will be in the way when I do an inside mount of the shade/blinds when the shades/blinds are all the way down. Any other alternatives that you can think of or I must do outside mount for all my windows?

Outside mount is probably the better option anyway, aesthetically speaking. If you post pictures that might be helpful.

I have inside mount for my casement windows with blinds. You can change out the handles to either one that folds or a smaller one that looks like a T. I don't know if you can use them on all brands of windows so this is probably something you would want to check out if you are interested. If you know your window brand, I'm thinking their web-site will offer several different handle options. Though more than likely you can find them elsewhere, too.

forhgtv Â I wasnÂt aware of a blackout sunshade. I will check into that to see what type of privacy it would provide at night. Not being able to see through it in the day would not be a problem as the same would happen with a cellular or bamboo shade. annz/bobtheblindguy Â for the most part, the shades would be pulled up when the windows are open. It would primarily be on the west side of the room where the shades may be lowered to some level to block the sun from coming in when windows are open. I think the blinds flapping could be controlled somewhat by how much the windows are open. This room has a total of 12 working casement windows so hopefully they would compensate. palimpsest Â I also had some reservation on how much privacy the natural woven shade provides. That is one reason I was looking at the shades that used the wider bamboo slats as opposed to the woven grass or matchstick slats. Even then, there is the space that exists due to the string that binds them and so the privacy issue still concerns me. Thanks for your responses, you have all given me very useful information and some things to ponder.

Congrats to the daddy to be also!:) I neglected to say, that I have casements & the slider windows in both of the last 2 houses I have lived in, although not in the same room. In this particular case, I would 100% rule in the favor of function over design & do outside mount on both windows. I have had both the casement handles - the newer folding handle still protrudes as you described. Order your cell shades long enough to go below the handle so the shade covers the sill in the down position. My experience - the shade will gently go over the handle. I am one who likes to sleep in complete darkness!!! On a casement window in my bedroom, in addition to the cell shade, I have a cheapie blackout vinyl shade inside mounted that I pull down inside the cell shade (I have a close inconsiderate neighbor who is semi retired who keeps his spotlights on). I am an adult baby who needs to go to sleep before 2:00am! Mama & papa will both be happier if baby sleeps / naps on your schedule!

Hey There: Roller Shades are at least 2 inches in diameter and you will not find a system that fits flush to your casing. But even if this system doesn't fit, with a sophisticated rod you can get away with it. On another note, bottom up and top down operating pleated blinds are less than 1 inch in depth and will host perfect as inside mount... @tedbixby I'm using Andersen windows and my handle is like below. Do you have a photo of how your blinds touch the casement handle and if your blinds go over the casement handle.

@Sammy My window is like below and window installer said it'll be difficult to do inside mount with this type of window and handle.

I hope it is not to late. The best option for inside mount installation are narrow depth bottom up top down shades.
