First Mail Order Daylilies of the Season Arrived Today
Comments (14)Well, the only garden thing I did today was plant daylilies. Got a late start today in the garden because I had to work this morning and I just finished watering the planted daylilies and dragged myself in now afew minutes ago. Haven't even had dinner yet. I got the rest of my plants from Mike Huben planted plus almost all my order from Melanies North Country Daylilies. I have four more to do tomorrow but otherwise that order from Melanie of 31 daylilies (including some from Brian Culver in Canada) is all planted. I want to get them planted tomorrow plus my roses and sedum so I can drag out my tomato cages and set up my tomato rows in my veggie garden. I have got to get that done and should plant those tomatoes as this Monday I have daylily orders being shipped from Karol Emmerich, Don Herr and Phil Korth. So by Wednesday I could well have more Daylilies to plant and I certainly will by the end of the week. Trying to get everything done in what seems like all at once to me....See MoreFIRST daylily bloom of the season

Comments (12)Thanks for commenting, everyone! The forum has been so slow, I wasn't sure anyone was even checking in. I haven't posted many pictures this year, but had to post this one. Yes Brad, it does feel really good when one of my own seedlings is the last to bloom. Actually, I had several seedlings I am going to keep an eye on next year, because they were among the last to bloom. They were newer seedlings though, & could be because I moved them last year into my "watching" bed. This particular one has been in place for several years. I'm going to have to look into getting Belle Isle Sentry & maleny Debutante if they bloom this late. The first full year I had Beautiful Edgings, it rebloomed & stayed in bloom til frost took the last blooms. It has rebloomed since that year, but never as well as that. Jean, it has been a really bad year here for rebloom, I haven't gotten rebloom even on some of my dependable ones. I really thought it would be better with all the rain we had, but maybe as Brad said, not enough sun. I was very disappointed....See MoreFirst daylily bloom of the season
