Cabin built in 1956, knotty pine walls, need new flooring

In our great room/kitchen/dining, it's time to take up the vinyl flooring that has held up well for decades & 13 year old carpet. We want to replace it & the material choice is the conundrum. Cork is our first choice, but from my research, maintenance could be an issue with 2 dogs. Tile is too cold, too hard, especially in winter. Wood: how in the world does one choose wood with pine walls? Now we're down to luxury vinyl or some current version of laminate that doesn't look like laminate & stay true to the mid-century era. Thanks for your ideas!
