Not even so much as a brown edge -- thank you, Jeri, for a photo that makes one feel cooler just looking at it! The gallon-size SGMC I planted 6 months ago is already at least 3' x 3', has new basals shooting out all over, and blooms like crazy. There's a rose that doesn't just sit around! Thank you. I am glad you liked my pictures, and I enjoyed reading everyone's comments. Pelicanhead, I like the Imposter. I don't deadhead, and it has hips and blooms at the same time. The hips are pretty and last through the winter. Renee, I think you said that about Pat before:-). The blooms are fragrant, and the color is rich but they don't last... Kitty, good luck with your new garden. It is great when the kids get interested in gardening. My 5-year old calls every plant he sees a rose:-). Masha

Thanks! :-) Yes Marlorena, a house eater indeed. :-) It's a Stephanotis, we also call it Bridal Jasmine here. I am glad you also have one Melodye. Mine is about 3-4 years old. I walked in a nursery one day looking for a night blooming jasmine, then I saw this huge bridal jasmine in a pot with a 6' tall trellis, looked wild reaching to the celling, it made me smile.......also have 3 Grand Duke of Tuecany jasmine trees, flowers look like mini roses, very fragrant; and star Jasmine, Arabian Jasmine......have killed 3 orange jasmine trees plus 1 plant, will see if I can find another one....... Melodye, do you have a photo of yours? :-) Sorry Jeri, went off the topic.......how did I run from SGMC to jasmine? :-)

These are all lovely, but there is no doubt in my mind that if I had a spot with afternoon shade I would have Grandmother's Hat. Her blooms did not last even half a day in the sunny spot I had her, but how I'd love to see her in the right place.
