How to get started when you're totally overwhelmed

Emily S.

My starter home is a 1950s brick rancher. I moved into it with so much eye on the potential but find myself paralyzed by all the things I want changed and the millions of ways I could change it if only I had any DIY skills whatsoever.

I can't be the only one who has experienced this. How do you guys deal?

BONUS: Pics of my house in case y'all have any ideas for a DIY dummy. Some are from the original listing, others are from it as it is. The paint job is new. We did a steel grey with navy accent walls. The navy walls actually make the rooms look longer (despite the conventional wisdom of dark colors minimizing the size of a room).

Please excuse the disorder -- we have a 9 month old, a dog, and two cats. It was plenty of space for me and my husband but childhood sure does take up a lot of room.
