where can I find oil-rubbed bronze floor vent covers?
Comments (13)kats, we do love living in our new house. it is so much fun. the only frustrating thing is finding so many mistakes in the drywall. the drywallers were terrible. there are so many tape marks showing and little marks. every day I find a new one. luckily it's not stuff that people visiting would notice. but living here 24 hrs a day makes them start to pop up. I do love our house and living in the country. right now I'm at my desk, looking out at my view of cows in a 100-acre meadow. it's gorgeous. here is one baby and her mom that I find especially endearing. the baby is such a mini-me of her mom: oh, and we bought ten chicks, too! they are buff orpingtons:...See MoreWhere can I find reasonably priced vent covers? Comments (12)You should be able to make a vent cover without too much difficulty. Years ago we made radiator covers. We ordered the decorative metal from some online source. Big box stores sell the metal pieces too but the may not have a pattern you like. If their sizes are too short you could use 2 pieces and cover the seam with a piece of wood trim. There are directions and videos on line. I have linked a couple below. vent-cover instructions updating-your-air-vent-covers I have also linked a couple sources for the decorative metal. It appears that you can sheets a 96" long and different widths for under $200. You can usually cut the metal with tin snips. Here's a couple examples Decorative metal More metal sheets...See MoreHelp!! Updating the exterior of this ugly rock covered ranch!!
Comments (15)Your home isn't ugly. The flowering tree (tulip tree?) is especially lovely. While the rock probably wouldn't have been my first choice, neither would the pale blue/gray siding. If you're considering repainting anyway, do consider a darker gray for the siding and trim -- the darkest in the stone -- with a very dark gray or even black for the fascia....See MoreHallway with ugly vents and attic. what should I do with this hallway?
Comments (7)Where does the doorway that's closest to it lead? Is it frequently used? Can't tell if there would be enough room for one of these (altho a 3 panel might work best). If it doesn't block the door on the right, it could just be sitting on the floor. But if there is not much room to pass through that door, you could attach one side with hinges to the sidewall and then maybe just a hook and eye on the other side to hold it in place, but it would easily swing open to access the closet behind. Before someone comes along and says it will block the air vents, it won't. It wouldn't be installed tight up against them and air flows like water....anyone trying to weatherproof their homes can testify to how easy it is for air to flow. Lots of choices. These are all from Wayfair. You could also look at peel and stick murals that would cover the whole thing. The vents would be a little labor intensive or look for a pattern that could disguise them. Or paint them a color/s to blend in. I just googled peel and stick murals for closet doors....See Morenjmomma
