I have kitchen cabs in BM Simply White and I love it. Not cool, chalky or stark. But not really warm, no yellow. I have gray-taupe glass backsplash and the colors look good together.

MizLizzie My first pick was Simply White but have read that it has a yellow undertone. But if you're not seeing this, I may buy a sample pot.

Yes, have sample boards I've painted with Stormy Monday and Cement Gray which is on the same color strip. My kitchen is fairly dark and yes, realize there are lavender/plummy undertones but will make the kitchen cabs interesting with matte gold accents. Cement Gray above is much lighter than the chip color on the photo. And White Dove is yellower - which is why it scares me. My research tells me that White Dove should work but it's iffy.

I like the tones. with the gold hardware it would be beautiful! I'd throw in some natural wood somewhere to keep it from being too cold looking. try some natural white oak in some shelving, or the stools, or even some trim pieces around the vent hood. Or, maybe you're doing wood floors.

white dove is a bit dingy. I painted my walls with it and didn't like it. I ended up repainting them w/Simply white. It's the perfect, warmer, neutral white. did the trim w/it too

Yes, absolutely for wood! I have a very large original mid century teak table I'll be using instead of an island. You are the first person I"ve heard say that about White Dove. My husband hates looking at this stuff but has an eye for undertones and said no, absolutely not to White Dove. So actually you're the 2nd who doesn't like it.

i'm sure in some places it's fine. I just know that when I painted these walls with it, it looked 'grungy'. lol. I wasn't happy either because I had to completely repaint these walls. I love the Simply White. Naming is apt.

I used White Dove for my trim. Really like it.

I had the same experience with White Dove in our space, didn’t care for it at all... I love simply white - using it on our ceilings and for doors/trim. It’s light/bright without being stark... Your mileage may obviously vary in your space but if white dove is a no might be worth a try!

Another one to try is BM Steam. Our decorator recommended it when we redid our whole home and it works in every room. Not stark, just a good neutral white.

I also used BM Simply White when I repainted all my doors and trim years ago. Comes across as a bright, but not stark white.

If it helps, here is SW Felspar Pottery (wall) with BM Simply White cabinets in natural morning light. (No clue why it’s crooked, sorry.) Even against the taupe-gray, I see no yellow. But it is not chalky. We have SW Alabaster on our other walls and it leans a tad too cold and chalky. If I had it to over again, I’d paint BM Simply White on the walls, or maybe BM Alabaster, which is warmer than SW’s version, IIRC.

I've stayed away from Simply White because everything I read tells me that there's yellow in there - but I don't see any in the photo above - thanks BTW. Don't want to touch Chantilly Lace b/c of blue-green. Yes I get that all whites have undertones but want to consider a couple of things - my century home went thru a complete gut reno so have to give myself the ok that I can do a brighter white now. Kitchen cab grays have violet undertone that's not apparent in most light in my space but don't want white to clash. Countertops will be caesarstone white attica which is a fairly pure white with marble like pattern.

Here is wheel color from The land of color, you can see different whites. As color closer to green/blue then it is crispier (whiter) color. If you do not want to go with whitest white, then go with whites that have yellow/orange hue family.

So your choice White Done would work better than Cloud White .

Yes! That's an awesome tool - thank you. I have painted 2 boards with White Dove & Cloud White. All the color experts agree that White Dove has less yellow but after staring at my painted boards, Cloud White looks more neutral. Time to check out Simply White & Cotton Balls.

Years ago I needed to paint a large 2-story foyer. I avoided some colors because of the descriptions given by others. I had to repaint twice (expensive because I had to pay a painter to do the 20 ft walls) and ended up with SW Kilim beige, which I had avoided because many said it had a pink cast to it. On my walls, with my flooring, it was the perfect neutral with no pink at all.

Test in your room/house and like Lucky said, trust your own eyes.

Yes! I"m learning this chispa. So much info on the internet that's helpful but doesn't necessarily apply to everyone's home. On a similar note, I tried to match up a Farrow & Ball color that I had in my living room before the reno with a Ben Moore paint. Based on color experts I bought 3 different sample pots and only one was remotely close to the FB paint color.

I second the Simply White OC-117 idea. It's my go-to white paint when I'm looking for a very neutral white--not too warm and not too bright/cool. It's pretty perfect, IMO.

BM cloud cover is lovely and subtle grey

I should tell you that I live in Toronto, Canada. Long cold grey winters, no spring, and *BOOM* we're into hot sticky summers. The light is dull and grey for months & that's why I want white for the walls.

Just painted our stairwell and landing in Simply White. I love it. It's not too bright, or cool, or warm, or yellow. It's perfect. Want to paint the whole house now. Thank you for the tip you guys!
