We used hanging pendants made by Roost. They only sell to wholesalers who then retail them. We bought ours locally, via our builder, from a design center so got a deal. Don't know hwat you can find in your area, but I have provided an online link below. We also used the Edison-reproduction, multi-filament bulbs they show in the pic. They are about 11 bucks each w/ shipping, but look waaaaaaay cool, esp. when dimmed, and provide all the light you need when at full power. If you go that way, order some spares. We have not had a burnout in 4 years, but we do not use them daily. Also, we did not want a track sitting across our ceiling to steal the eye away from the task lighting hanging below. I love your countertop slabs, they are stunning. Based on all the criticism I looked at your layout and I see a lot of positives. You have a sink for cleanup near the dishwasher drawers and stove, and a second sink for prep work. That sink is not far from the fridge, so you can grab an armload of produce and get right to work ... and as you work the kids who just want a drink or snack from the fridge can get it without coming into the work L. This isn't a studio apartment, it is meant to work for a large family and so yeah, you may need to take 2-3 more steps to get around but that is somewhat unavoidable. Don't worry about the people here who enjoy shooting arrows of doubt and dismay without offering to help identify ways to improve things. Some people naturally look for flaws and love to point them out (instead of asking why something was designed this way vs that way). It can't be a fun way to live life.

It's 25 percent of the view lost, and a head banger. I detest pendants in front of a sink window unless no other method, and a flush mount or recessed situation is better, almost always. You lean over a sink all the time........the reason no cabinets are place above : ) You would have to hang that so high, the "pendant" effect would be lost. Look for something you can love in a FLUSH mount.,,,,,,don't block the view.Or add recessed, and save the dangles for island or table in the kitchen.

over the island i would rather see something like this, than individual pendants over the isalnd. for the sink, i would do one 'down' light. 3 to me is overkill and 2 will look 'weird'. are you installing under cab lights as well? with the undercab lights, it will help with the sink area. 'down' light another example(where all the light is down in your sink - none 'escaping' up or out of course get the fixture to scale with the space.
