Making Greeting Cards
Comments (11)I second SCS. The gallery is full of wonderful ideas. I usually buy my white cardstock from Office Depot (zerox brand). I get white envelopes in bulk on e-bay once every few years. I buy vellum and other cardstock from Michael's with coupons. Their white isn't thick or smooth enough. You can get rubber stamps anywhere Michaels, Jo-Ann's, stamping-up (home based business from a consultant). Embossing powders and heat tools are fun. There are a ton of cutting products on the market - punches and dies and fancy edged scissors. Cuttlebug makes wonderful embossing folders if you are into that type of texture. Ribbons. Clear and tinted paper glazes. Scoring tools to make perfect folds. Glitter & glitter glue (stickles). Coloring tools - chalks, shimmering chalks, colored pencils, metallic pencils, markers, watercolors, shimmering watercolors, etc. It depends how fancy you want to get and how much you want to spend. Contact a stampingup demo and purchase a catalog ($10) - there are lots of ideas in it and product info or buy a cardmaker or papercrafts magazine from Michaels to get ideas and info on products....See MoreGreeting Card Aficianados
Comments (6)I used to buy the Edward Gorey cards at bookstores in NYC and then one day I discovered them at Barnes and Noble. I looked in my local B&N and didn't see any. Oh my - I just checked on Amazon. I should sell mine instead of sending them. Amazon has a box of 20 cards for $55.00. eBay has 4 cards for $10.00. Here is a link that might be useful: goggle images of Gorey cards...See MoreHow to display a greeting card
Comments (3)I would look at a thrift store for a frame from the era....and buy a piece of acid free mat board and attach your card with stamp hinges. It really has no monetary value...or not much. But can have sentimental value to you. any glass is fine....but if you want to keep it from fading, don't put it facing a window....See MoreVent about buying greeting cards
Comments (44)I make all of the Christmas cards we send. Birthday, sympathy and other holiday cards, not so much anymore. Birthdays always seem to sneak up on me so they go out late. Even though I have a number of stamp sets for sympathy cards, I just haven't quite gotten the knack for them. I need to work on that, and get some made ahead. I usually keep cards for several years before tossing them. I know when I start cleaning out the house I am going to find many from our KT card exchanges!...See MoreOakley
