They were 18 years different in their ages. They had 5 children, in 2 "groups." When the last two sons were born, the nurses thought the dad (my grandfather) was their grandfather. lol I saved their obits, but my grandmother didn't put his DOB in his because she didn't want people to think she was his age. Then her age/DOB is not in hers either! He died of old age, but she was severely injured crossing the street - with her sister, but the sister lived. At my grandmother's funeral, all her friends told us that she prayed every night to die so that she could be with her DH again. Moral of the story is to be careful what you ask for. Did some math: he was born in 1891 (served in WWI) and she was born in 1918 (sorry I told!). They were married when she was 19yo and he was 37yo. They were married 53 years when he passed away. The handwritten note I have framed says, "Some people can write sweet verses to tell their love. But all the sweet verses in the world and all the sweet words couldn't begin to tell you how much I love you." No year noted. :( My mom's parents married at 15 and 16yo, married 72 years when he passed away. Sorry to sort of have hijacked the thread, mtnrdredux. The box I have is by Paper Magic. I notice that although the tutorial is quite good, it did not give directions about how to mount it on the greeting card so that the stitches do not show, but that is pretty simple. I tried to post pics of a couple of paper embroidery pieces that I did, however did not succeed so emailed them to someone else. Maybe they can do it for me. The one, I put on the cover of a loose leaf note book. And I also did another one the same, for a friend, with it mounted in a frame. Both look nice. You've put me in the humor to do some more.

I second SCS. The gallery is full of wonderful ideas. I usually buy my white cardstock from Office Depot (zerox brand). I get white envelopes in bulk on e-bay once every few years. I buy vellum and other cardstock from Michael's with coupons. Their white isn't thick or smooth enough. You can get rubber stamps anywhere Michaels, Jo-Ann's, stamping-up (home based business from a consultant). Embossing powders and heat tools are fun. There are a ton of cutting products on the market - punches and dies and fancy edged scissors. Cuttlebug makes wonderful embossing folders if you are into that type of texture. Ribbons. Clear and tinted paper glazes. Scoring tools to make perfect folds. Glitter & glitter glue (stickles). Coloring tools - chalks, shimmering chalks, colored pencils, metallic pencils, markers, watercolors, shimmering watercolors, etc. It depends how fancy you want to get and how much you want to spend. Contact a stampingup demo and purchase a catalog ($10) - there are lots of ideas in it and product info or buy a cardmaker or papercrafts magazine from Michaels to get ideas and info on products.

The napkin had two layers... the printed color layer, kinda bonded to a plain white layer so it had more substance than some paper napkins. I left the layers together. The glue I used was Elmer's Washable School Glue 'No Run Gel' - the light blue stuff. I ran a thin bead all around the edges of the backside of the picture, and made a few squiggles in the center area, then used a soft flat paintbrush to smear/paint the glue to the edges and moosh it around in the middle. The glue did NOT grab immediately, giving me some leeway in ooching the design into place. I had thought of using spray-on adhesive, but with that type of glue, once you drop the picture in place, that is where it STAYS! No room for error with most of it. Glad you liked the card. I hope it inspires you to look at your stash of pretty napkins and make a card, too!
