Exterior Color & Material Help to Transform Home

The house and adjacent detached building exteriors need some thoughtful updating to add appeal. We'd like to make the acreage feel more like an estate with stunning design colors and accents missing today.

Up for discussion are: shake color (current color: Magnolia Cupola), vertical trim color, window trim color/style, porch columns color/style, porch railings remove or change, new decorative accents under roofline, garage door color, and type/color of stone or brick and where to incorporate it. Changing the vinyl siding color (matches paint swatch OC-29 Floral White) and roofing are off the table for now.

We're thinking of adding shakes to the highest peak (with the gable vent) down to the horizontal band and replacing the stone around the window with siding, and adding a different stone/brick below siding and below the porch or adding stone up to bottom of windows, under porch and partway up the garage face. Or simply replacing rock around window with shakes like other area under that roofline. We're also looking at replacing all trim with no maintenance trim (so picking the right colors is critical). Sides and backs of both home and workshop are all siding.

Current concerns: Shake color not coordinating with siding color--can the right stone accent pull those together or should we repaint the shakes? We dislike exiting cultured stone style/color and don't desire a look with shutters. We're unsure about adding shakes to peak, removing porch railings and updating porch columns style.

Any advice is most welcome! Thank you.

Ignore the stairs and structures between the home and garage as those will be removed. Considering adding cupola or something to the detached garage if that would go with the style.
