Hi eosinophil, The SquidGee Dry System is ideal for water seepage entering through were the floor and wall meet. Also, the top of the system is left open allowing any water seepage from the face of the walls to go back behind the system. Our SquidGee Dry System has been very successful remedying basement water problems since the late 1960s. Here are a couple of tips when installing the SquidGee Dry System to ensure it's success: 1. Prepping of the floor - After you have removed any glue or paint residue off the basement floor, you need to clean it will just warm water, changing the water out as frequently as possible. You want your floor to free of any silt or sand. 2. Installing the Main Sections - When installing the system do not press down hard when placing the Main Sections in place. You simply want to press down with about 3 lbs of weight with each hand, then see-sawing the section back and forth, holding the Main Section in place lightly for about 30 seconds. Given the restraints you have, I think the floor plan is functional, with a tight prep cooking triangle, and separate clean-up zone--I like a plan where helpers can be loading or unloading the DW, or gathering dishes to set the table, without entering the prep/cooking zone. The only problem I see, is that the fridge is at the farthest point from the living areas, but it's still in a good position to keep grazers out of the prep space. I'd keep the cabinets on the sink wall, and omit the ones around the range hood. I don't know how it would look, but I'd suggest keeping a full-depth cabinet over the fridge, and using a side-loading cabinet to the left. It will be much easier to access items in a shallower cabinet, and that could be part of the kitchen storage, or part of the mudroom storage. Thank you to Newideas, for the vote of confidence. :)

If vents and window are staying, you don't have much choice for storage areas--3' on each side of window? Does the 7' measurement include the window trim? The measurements for the 11' wall don't add up, unless you are not including the section with the wall vent.--2'6" plus 4'1" plus 3'2" = 9'9". Here is my original suggestion for pantry and mudroom storage but with a window seat and some extra storage squeezed in. The vent on the hall wall will need to be relocated, but you are considering removing that wall, so I'm assuming you have a plan for the ducting:

I'd get shelves you can paint to match the color of your wall. That will allow the shelves to disappear and your burbon to be the real focus of the wall. I'd go for grey counters too. I noticed your fridge looks like a free standing mini-beverage fridge, rather than an expensive built-in, under the counter beverage fridge. Am I correct? If so, a mini-fridge - like the kind you get for a dorm or office has required clearances for air circulation on the back and sides. Check out the installation guide for your appliance. It is often 4-5" on each side and the back. Take this seriously. I just did the same thing earlier this year and the fridge died within two months. You cannot treat these units like built-ins. Built-ins are so expensive because they have special venting that comes out the front to cool the unit. I'd consider putting your two cabinets side by side with a counter that stretches across to the right. Place your fridge on the counter on the right side with the requisite number of inches between it and the last cabinet and don't place anything against the right side of the fridge.
