My last year in this apartment - giving up my gardens
Comments (30)Life isn't about the destination, it's about the journey. I love going on road trips. Although, I've never got up and just left everything behind, so to speak, I've often dreamed about it. People often get caught up in the mundane, working 9 to 5, busy, day-to-day routine that they lose sight of what truly matters. Before they know it, they look back on everything and wonder where all of the time went. Life isn't about existing, it's about living. It's about experiencing new things and having no regrets.I don't know you, but when I came across this post, I did want to wish you good luck on your journeys. That, and to tell you to take lots of pictures. Take pictures of everything, no matter how small or insignificant it may seem. When you look back on these photos, they'll take you back to those moments in your life and help to keep those memories alive. When I go through my photos, I can remember those precious moments as if they happened only yesterday. If you don't already have an Instagram account, this sounds like the perfect time to create one. For both you, and for those that wish you follow you....See MoreThere was a DEER under my window in my apartment's courtyard!
Comments (5)Oftentimes, when I am driving on one of the local highways around here--695, 83, etc.--I see deer grazing by the side of the road. There are extensive trees bordering most of the highways, so I guess that's why. I just wish them back from the road, as I'd hate to see one struck by a car. When I find my little house to buy, I'll have to fence in the backyard I guess, to protect the hostas and other plants. They are just everywhere around here....See MoreUpdating an apartment kitchen
Comments (7)Guessing you cannot paint the walls or cabinets much less the countertops? But, if you can, You Tube has vids on how to paint such countertops -- requires "roughing" them first, so likely would not invest that much effort and risk of poor result in a rental . If the cabinet doors are veneer, they'll likely have a finish that will not paint well either. Large thin cutting boards in tinted or colored glass (or a solid color in another material) could cover most of the countertop and it would be something you could take with you when you move. Some of them even have interesting pics on them so you could use double sticky tape and/or velcro to "hang" them against the backsplash to draw attention away from the countertop if you find you don't want them on the countertop itself. https://www.google.com/search?q=large+smoke+glass+cutting+board&source=lmns&tbm=shop&bih=626&biw=1366&client=firefox-b-1-d&hl=en&sa=X&ved=2ahUKEwjzhvmD_cbuAhVHMN8KHSuoDPwQ_AUoAXoECAEQAQ...See MoreI posted about my baseboards and fireplace. This is my updated update.
Comments (38)Absolutely beautiful. I love it!!! (Now that you said she's wearing a white dress I blew it up and see it just fine. However on a quick first glance on a small screen it did indeed look like a severed head. I would not recommend changing a thing about it just because of that though. LOL. It's incredibly well done and in person would be a very different experience than on a tiny screen...) You have a great eye. Normally I'm not a fan of black baseboards, but seeing your eye and aesthetic I say go for it. It's not quick, but it's not particularly hard - just tedious. Thank you for sharing with us. If you do tackle the baseboards I'd love to see the after.......See More- 6 years ago
