Is there something wrong with my Crape Myrtle?

My landscaper planted this (6' high) Crape Myrtle tree about 6 weeks ago. The tree arrived with the white spots on the bark (you can see these in the picture). Let me mention - I know nothing when it comes to trees so I paid little attention to this at the time. However, now I noticed that the leaves are turning more reddish in color. I asked for a Natchez Crape since my wife loves the white flowers it produces and its green foliage. I'm not even sure what variety this is...

Some additional info, at the exact time this was planted, we had the yard re-sodded and of course I was watering every day for 2 weeks to help the sod establish. I live in coastal area of North Carolina and its been much cooler than previous years.

Did I do more harm to this tree due to over watering? Will whatever is causing the red go away on its own? Is there anything I can do to help it?
