Comments (19)This thread is a reminder to include a spyware detector to your computer maintenance programs. Almost every computer, even with a firewall, is going to be infected with all manner of spyware including keystroke trojans, tracking cookies, trojans that examine your virus ware protected wastebaskets, etc. It's very easy to get phone numbers, pins, passwords with spyware. I never go one entire week without finding spyware. There have been some interesting articles written on spyware and virus tools and it's been said that not ONE program will do it all for you. In testing these products, they found that one program, for instance, would find 98% of the threats but then had to use other programs to find all of them. It was said that you would have to use 30 programs to find all of them. Gosh---the evil people of the world give us no chance at all. So I guess what I'm saying that it might be a good idea to have a different spyware program than your virus protection which may have a spyware product with it. Just so that, AT LEAST, you're scanning with 2 different products that might find the majority of the spyware. Stay safe out there....See MoreGot this email today. Do I or don't I? Comments (17)I have a Netgear router and did not get this email. I had a big Netgear experience today when we switched from Spectrum to ATT for internet. One laptop recognized Netgear; the other laptop didn't and went on ATT. Both cell phones recognized Netgear. My chromecast won't work with either. And the crazy one is 2 of my 3 Kindle fires wouldn't recognize Netgear and went on ATT, but one is still on Netgear. Anyway, I'm mostly on Netgear and DIDN'T get this email!...See MoreHelp me figure out the origin of these spam emails
Comments (9)This is why spam email is so effective; you actually opened these and clicked on links in them. There are very few google results for labshwest dot com; one result located it in Germany. It may be benign (so far) as there are many watchdog websites that report spam email addresses if they have harmful activities connected to them. Just delete such mails, or do a search for the abc.com portion of them if you want to know more....See MoreFrom today's spam folder
Comments (19)Oh yeah, we once had someone filling their water bottle from our front spigot, too! That is the weirdest thing, isn't it? In February we both had the flu and no way did we want to expend energy walking down the stairs to the first floor to answer the door. So we put a hand written sign beside the door bell. "We're sick. Please don't disturb." It worked. Now that makes me realize that we must normally get a lot more people at the door than some folks here who live up long driveways or on lonely country roads. I guess in a week's time that sign must have helped us fend off at least four doorbell rings and knocks. ------ Oops, yes, the above was meant for another thread, the one about whether we open our doors when someone knocks or rings the bell. I'd like to be able to blame its misplacement on Houzz, but the simplest explanation is that I goofed all by myself....See Moremorz8 - Washington Coast
