Coordinating paint colors

I have a paint color question. My daughter used Sherwin-Williams alabaster for her walls in her dining room and living room, which are open to each other. My question is, what color to use on the trim? She has 12 foot ceilings, with very wide baseboard. She was thinking of a lighter color, but it’s so overwhelming with all the color choices. If anyone has some advice, please share. Thanks

The same trim color should run throughout the house. Your daughter should try SW Pure White for trim.

I'm a big fan of using the same color on the walls and the trim, just in a different sheen. So you can use flat or matte on the walls and semi-gloss or satin on the trim. Even though it's the same color, it will look a bit different because of the way the light hits it. It solves the problem of trying to "match" the whites, which can be very problematic.

I have medium oak-look laminate floors with a reddish/orange hue. I also used Revere Pewter in the living room - they seem to play nice together. I will say that I find the R.P. appears lighter on my walls than what I see in other's photos. I would have preferred a darker shade.... but, after approx 40 different pint testers, I gave up, because *every* color looked pinkish on my walls. (Edgecomb gray looked green) HTH

From these photos, the house looks dark. You might want to do offwhite walls with slight beige undertones. Taupe are tricky. Some have brown undertones and some have red undertones. So the light in the home effects how colors look as well. If you are doing the brick and trim white I would consider doing a tint of white only. There are about a thousand whites. Maybe more. Check out the Sherwin Williams off white brochure for ideas. Make up some sample boards and see what appeals in that light.

Do the island in "Repose" : ) The finish will be different than the rest of the house wall color. Or go peppercorn and darker. Otherwise? II think very pale grayed greens can be a bit dangerous. ....: ) I think your wall color repeated on an island in satin finish? Also very nice.
