Ok, so my DH brought it home and..... I don't like it :( Sometimes things have a way of growing on me but I don't think that this will. And, of course, the cabinet isn't finished yet so it's a bit hard to see it and judge with the cabinet looking the way it does above rather than the rest of the cabinets. My complaints - I think it'll be too dark. It's the darkest thing in the kitchen and it's basically the longest uninterrupted stretch of counter (the area next to it is 112 but that includes the sink) so it seems very visually prominent. I'm not a huge fan of the strips of wood next to the strips of wood in the floor. The finish on it is pretty shiny and somehow it appears very lifeless and flat - DH commented that it looks like laminate! I realize that this could be changed with a different finish on it. The positives - it looks really nice with the dark wainscotting in the dining room. It's not in the dining room of course but the view through is nice. The wood itself is pretty gorgeous. The colors and patterns are SO pretty. I'm thinking now that I need a different wood species. I think I'd prefer something that's more in keeping with the colors in the floor. Anyone have any recommendations? I'm thinking about sapele, mahogany, cherry, teak and maple. I think I'd probably prefer a plank style so that it's not as visually similar to the floor. Any thoughts or recommendations are appreciated!!

I don't love the tile either, but on my monitor it doesn't look bad with the wall and trim colors you have now. I think you can get away with white cabinets just fine, maybe white dove like your trim so you're not adding another color to the mix. You can also paint the wood strip on the counters. My in-laws did that. The counters look a lot like the floor tile. I agree with others not to spend a lot of energy and time trying to find a perfect color to coordinate with a tile you don't love. If you're not going to remodel, white cabinets is a pretty safe choice for resale (and your first color choice) so I would just go with that. Area rug is another great suggestion to help it fade into the background.

thank you, what did you mean by "I would not take up the charge of the sink"? Do you mean you wouldn't bother replacing? Regarding the flooring....the rest of the house has the old school 3/4" oak flooring so if I change the flooring to hardwood in the kitchen and entryway, I would have to change out all the hardwood in the living room and kitchen. This was my thought process anyway. I did check out the cost and for the flooring I like, it would be a lot of $. To answer your question, the sq footage of the combined entry way and kitchen which is currently tiled, is about 170 sq ft. what did you mean about backsplash? I was thinking black granite counter top and then a simple backsplash and yes I def want a coordinated look. warm, inviting and not choppy and misfitting. thanks again

We recently updated our countertops and need help selecting a cabinet color for the kitchen along with new flooring . For our kitchen cabinets, our choices are limited to off white selection as it needs to blend in with the backsplash and countertops. We have zeroed in BM colors specifically Bavarian Cream, Alpine White and White Chocolate. Can anyone please give their recommendations!! We are also planning to install LVP flooring in the kitchen and family room and need some recommendations. We decided to go with Coretec flooring and narrowed down to these choices: Chesapeake Oak, Belmont Hickory, Springfield Oak and Copano Oak. Appreciate your responses!
