IMOa lot depends on budget. I too like BDI but not in any way cheap and I have found many of their TV credenza too high for proper viewing height. My go to for a decent price is Ikea Besta and it can be configured to not only give you a TV stand but also some extra storage and display I actually think some wood might be a good choice for a finish with white. You for sure need art and IMO a much more colorful rug and maybe look at a Noguchi table instead of that coffee table table

Right now there is no room for a coffee table or to have a conversation. The solution with a narrow room like this is to align the deeper furniture with the deeper part of the room. Put the TV on the wall over a shallow console, on the wall opposite the fireplace. Then put the couch in front of the fireplace, facing the TV. You'll still have a "hallway" in the same place, but now you have room for an arm chair in front of the windows, maybe an end table in the corner between arm chair and couch, maybe even a second (slipper?) chair on the near end, but who can say since we can't see the other direction. I suspect you could fit a coffee table in front of the couch as well. Fireplaces can be nice design elements, but here it is enslaving you to bad options. If you ignore it, you can arrange the furniture to actually enlarge the space and welcome friends to join you there.

It is WAY too small. However, you don't have room for a size appropriate option. Mount the tv on the wall, call an electrician, get an IR repeater hdmi cable and locate the cable/dvr box elsewhere ....................SHOW us in a scale drawing al the other you are planning, around this wrong size item. From what we can tell in the pic? You can't "fill in" anything. Will look like clutter. What "alcove" please?
