Comments (5)I would start out with a large, beautiful rug in warm colors (terracotta or red Oriental rug mixed with other colors. I feel sectionals often confine you in how to organize your room. I would choose a fabric couch in a neutral, not too dark color (not gray, which is on its way out and not a warm color), and add two chairs in a different color or at least a different material and style. Try to keep the height of these pieces similar. Two end tables in wood (they don't have to be the same, but make sure the heights are fairly similar and a metal and glass coffee table would look great, with table lamps or floor lamps even if you have overhead lighting, which is always harsh. Pick colors from the rug for pillows and you'll have a beautifully coordinated living space. Books, good paintings and some tall plants will add warmth and personality to your room. People too often don't add these elements and then wonder why their rooms look bare and cold. This may be more colorful than you want to go. and this is a small rug because there is carpeting underneath, but it gives you the idea of neutral furniture and how it can be made more lively with accessories, pillows, coffee table styling etc....See MoreOpen Concept Living Room + Kitchen Design
Comments (10)Congratulations on your new home. Don't purchase anything until you've moved in and lived there for a bit. That will help you evaluate how you use the rooms. I, too, would want to get rid of the blue walls. Go with a neutral color such as: Edgecomb gray is a beautiful earthy gray with beige undertones. Ballet white is the perfect color if you want to go super neutral without going completely white. Balboa mist is a very soft and neutral gray. I would also try the TV on the wall where the console table is in the picture. It looks like the FP is too high for a TV....See MoreOpen concept living room/dining room/kitchen design
Comments (1)Its hard to tell the depth/distance, especially from the wall the dog food is to the back of the sofa. I also feel like you could afford to back up the sofa bit more. I think you could have the best of both worlds in the nook area with bench under the left window and a small table with chairs, you might be able to get a chair and an end table next to the door on the right....See MoreDesign question for open concept dining, dinette, and kitchen
Comments (3)Truly I think your kitchen eating area should be a bridge between the great room and the kitchen and all work as one space; so you cabinet choice will probably direct the table design, but the dining room is off to itself and is seem as the first room you see when you walk in? It should provide the feel of the house with colors and modern, country french, MCM, etc. but the execution should stand alone and be a WOW factor design wise. Just my opinion....See MoreNancy Tyree
