Find the silver lining
Comments (43)Been sunny and above freezing (high 30's to low 40's F) the last couple of days. Water was 3" deep in front of the service door yesterday. Soaked away into the ground over night. Good sign. Dripping off the roof steady, you can hear it going down the rain spout, snow banks receding. Yippee! Just good to be outside in the sun, even shopping is more pleasant without the extreme cold, getting into cold cars etc....See MoreCovid vacine ???
Comments (96)For example, this is what we're looking at here in Wisconsin: The first part of phase 1b — first responders, or police officers and non-paramedic firefighters (medics are in 1a) — starts on Jan. 18. Local health departments, such as Public Heath Madison and Dane County, are expected to provide most of these injections. Other groups in phase 1b are people 70 and older, teachers, child care workers, prisoners and others who live in congregate settings such as group homes and mental health institutes, along with mink farmers, according to a plan by a state committee released this week for public comment. The plan is subject to approval by the State Disaster Medical Advisory Committee, which advises the Wisconsin Department of Health Services. "The plan is subject to approval by the State Disaster Medical Advisory Committee...." A hypothetical plan, not even a real set in stone plan. Whenever they get around to making a plan, I guess. Maybe sometime in the second quarter?...See MoreAre you eliglble to get the Covid vaccine now? If so, have you?
Comments (95)Happy to say got our 2nd Pfizer doses today. As i have said before in other threads, I felt like it was a scavenger hunt. I followed every rumor, signed up every where I could. When it seemed that I really got us appointments I was still thinking it wasn't going to be. The only good thing i can say is that at least for us, the dispensing was so incredibly well run and orderly. We had 12:15 appointment , got there about 5 minutes ahead, waited maybe 5 minutes and got our shots. There were no long lines, but a constant steady light flow. It seems they have it together. They don't really examine what time your appointment is but just confirm that you are scheduled for the day. That way it flows nicely. So , so far only a little soreness on my arm as I had last time. Hopefully that will be it. YAY....See MoreCovid and obesity
Comments (32)Chi, I just wrote a long reply and I accidentally deleted it when I went to make a small addition. Aaargh. Of course there can be complicated reasons why a person eats too much. He or she could be using food as a source of comfort or entertainment (that's me,) and addressing the root cause of what the problem is necessary in order to get better. The consequences of even a small amount of extra weight on our joints as we age, for example, can have so much effect on how we age, our ability to keep moving, exercise and stay fit, that it is imperative to be vigilant. There are very successful medical interventions to help people shed weight, gastric band surgery, for one (truthfully, only one I know, though I am hearing of some new medicine.) A friend of mine had this procedure and she is thrilled three years out from surgery. There was support to help her keep the pounds off too. Another friend dropped 20 pounds simply by going to therapy. She said she lost both physical and psychological weight. Between regular medical care, bariatric medical care, psychological help, 12 step programs, programs like WW, people may have to try a lot of modalities for getting bettter....See MoreUser
