Shower Hoses for Handheld?
Comments (2)I bought the metal hose, the longest one available. I think it was 79" or something like that. No cleaning woes. The length is good for reaching all corners of the shower. We have the Relaxa head, no complaints. I'd get it again. We've had it for a couple of years, no drips out of the hose fittings. The hose stays flat against the wall, too, no twisting and bowing out into the shower space. Mongo...See Moreplacement of wall supply elbows for handheld shower on slide bar?
Comments (2)wi-sailorgirl, thanks, that placement you have there is more standard and what I think it should be. Its nice how it lines up with the bottom of the slide bar. We aren't tiled up yet but backerboard is on and the nipple for the wall connection elbow is way low. Like below where your diverter trim is, below your glass ovals even. I wasn't going to mount the slide bar too high but wont be able to line the bottom of it up that low as they are now. Probably going to be too much trouble to break backerboard out and have plumber adding copper plumbing to raise up the location of the wall supply elbow. Our hose just isn't going to hang nicely like that with a loop and to the side. The hose is just going to have to come straight down and into the already low placed wall supply connection. At which point there will be no reason to mount the slide bar off to one side either. Just directly above the wall supply elbow so hose will just go straight down. Not going to look great and will have to mount the slide bar low enough so that you can still raise the slide bar to the highest point and have enough hose, short of using a longer hose which both of mine are not. oh well, if I really care, now is the time to do it before its really too late but I'm afraid it already kind of is....See MoreLong term experience with handhelds - do they slide??
Comments (3)Most of the handshower holders are held tight with a screw down mechanism. On Moen, the clasp that grips the handshower holder onto the bar does slide (but isn't supposed to?), a lot more in one direction that the other. I think that can be an advantage because you can push the handshower and its holder to raise it. Any other system requires more hand movements, or two hands. You can have two of these handshower holders if you need to place the handshower in another position often. You can have a handshower holder on the wall too. Comments (4)I would select a good quality handheld shower on a bar, just like jrueter. One that is totally adjustable. I certainly wouldn't call it chintzy. (It was suggested by a designer for a $60K+ remodel for our small master bathroom. Grohe comes in all the finishes, and styles, as do others. See them at local plumbing shops, and hold them in your hands to decide which one is best for you. Usually you can interchange the various parts within a manufacturer. I believe the threads on the heads will go with just about any make of hose. Not sure about that. Unless you can view both the sink an the tub at once you don't need to worry about having all the finishes match. We tend to get obsessed about these things when we remodel, and in the larger scheme of things, it really doesn't matter. What you would probably notice is traditional v.s.contemporary. So I suppose style would be more noticeable rather than finishes...but not going from ORB to Chrome would look weird. I wanted everything SQUARE in my bathroom, and I was able to find different mfgrs. who did chrome with square designs in just about everything from shower fixtures to towel bars. Chrome always looks the same. Brushed nickel doesn't as I learned in my kitchen...but one would only notice looking closely and the items would have to be side by side. So don't worry about that. Get what YOU like to look at. Mount that bar up high enough, ( they do come indifferent lengths) The boys really only care if it works, not how it looks. -Babka...See MorePeke
