videos don't always play

there are times that when I go to watch a video clip it pixelates and other times it doesn't what would cause this ? My speed is about 80 mps in

Assuming you have that much speed available when trying to watch the video, it's not bandwidth. 80 mb/s is great.

Have you tried a different browser?

Have you brought up "Task Manager" to make sure your CPU isn't pegging out at 100%?

Is it always the same videos or the same site that pixelates? Or the same video might pixelate now but play fine later?

If it's always the same videos, the problem might be with the quality of the video. If so, nothing you can do.

I think usually when I have a bandwidth problem playing a video, it doesn't pixelate, it just freezes, then starts again. Does the pixelation occur while it's recovering from a "freeze"?

Does the pixelation usually occur only while watching high resolution videos? Like 1080P or 4K.

If you have a video that always pixelates, would you care to share a link?

Thank you, I think it might be the video itself now ... cuz some play well and some don't. I'll try the task mger next time and see if the cpu pegs out ... thanks again.

I'm not an expert so probably can't help but... I think you have enough speed you shouldn't even need to let it buffer, but know how to do so, so it's probably not Internet speed. Your system seems fine specification-wise. To me anyway. I don't think or know much about video cards but I wouldn't think it would be the physical card, but I don't really know. My wild guess would be the driver. :) This is what mine shows when I go to "System settings"--->"Additional Drivers": If it were me, I'd try a different driver if there's any listed there. Maybe you already have? Other than that, I don't have a clue. I'm running 12.04 and youtube's and other videos play fine for me. If someone else here doesn't have the answer, there's always the Ubuntu forum. Just a thought. When our children were in the house, my wife would roast a turkey and fix side dishes such as mashed potaotes, punpkin pie and open cans of cranberry sauce. It was mostly a private family affair for the 5 of us and labor intensive for the wife. Occasionaly, we'd extend an invitation to one of the kid's friends they were dating if that person did not have relatives nearby. Out kids are all out of the house, we are retired, and now do the lazy thing. We found a little family resturant about 5 miles from our house that serves a Thanskgiving buffet for at $10 to $12 per person. For the past several years, we and the 2 boys have eaten there for under $50 including the tip and that's what we plan to do this year. Its not quite the same, but the food is good and it sure saves labor at home. The cost is equal or less than if we did the meal at home. This frees the wife to entertain at home or to out for a movie afterward. She gets to watch the parades on TV as well.

One of the best things I did was to research the drugs (prescription and non) I was taking after the various hospital trips. Entered them into the interaction checkers and set up a list of what to avoid with what. Also found out things like what inhibits the absorption of iron and what promotes it. Doctors, clinics and hospitals didn't tell me any of it, just that I was anemic. After changing it myself, I was back to normal levels within a week to two weeks. The doctor basically went "duh". So to those who say to blindly follow the doctors, I say ABSOLUTELY NOT! I become an informed patient, ask questions and research things to get answers.

I could watch youtube videos at 360p without pixelation w/a 2.8 mbits/sec DSL connection. So it's something else.
